Happy holidays, everyone! And if you’re not in a good place right now for whatever reasons, remember that there is light at the end of the tunnel. We can’t possibly know how long the tunnel is, but the only thing we can do to reach the light is keep moving. I’ve had a shitty past few weeks but things just turned around for me. It may take some more time for you or far little than expected. But keep faith that things will change for the better soon. And don’t let all the happy posts and proud year-end accomplishments on social media bring you down. There’s no need to be on social media really if you’re not in a position to be happy for others right now. It’s perfectly alright to take that digital detox break and take care of yourself first. Go read a book, talk to your friend or stare at the moon! If you’re going through a bad phase right now, I see you and I wish better things can’t come soon enough for you. P.S - I know it’s entirely an uncharacteristic post from me but all the ostentatious, superficial, saccharine sweet showboating can be especially jarring for those who are struggling this holiday season. So this is my small way of just acknowledging that pain.

India's dizzying array of wild flowers, forgotten meadows, roaring waterfalls, hidden viewpoints are the least of pretty things that feature in the 2019's desktop calendar. Like every year in the recent past, I'm releasing a new desktop calendar to add some color and wanderlust to your office spaces and homes. But here's the catch- I'm not going to divulge the names of these places online. These places that feature in the calendar were chosen not only for their beauty but also for their relative obscurity. Many(not all!) of these places are names you probably haven't heard of or haven't seen as many pictures of. I'm taking 12 special places out of my travel treasure box for this calendar. And you'll get a special note along with the calendar that'll explain the location & significance of each of these places in a sentence or two. I trust you'll keep the secret safe from the Instagram crowd! ? Link to bio, go place your orders anytime this week and get yourself a copy of “2019 Secrets of India” desktop calendar!

Have you ever been to a place that was so stunning and untouched that you struggled for words and emotions to express its beauty?⠀ ⠀ For me, that place was #UvacCanyon. A protected reserve area in Serbia with many beautiful lakes and caves, one-hundred-year-old forests, and rare flora and fauna comprising of 219 species of plants, 24 types of fish and 130 bird species including the endangered griffon vulture.⠀ ⠀ The Uvac river spectacularly meander through the 75-sq-km Uvac nature reserve in southwestern Serbia. The incredibly green river snakes through steep limestone rocks in a zigzag manner – a feat of nature that's best admired from high above. ⠀ Getting here is little tough - you have to first drive for two hours from Tara National Park, take a speed boat for over an hour and steep hike for 45 minutes before you get this view. ⠀ So, are you inspired enough to #SeeSerbia?⠀ ⠀ -------------------------------------------------- ⠀ ⠀ PS: I was in Europe for 4 months and have been sharing untold stories from #offbeat places. #Serbia is the fifth part of my ongoing #OffbeatEuropeWithTSW series. ⠀ ⠀ ---------------------------------------------------- ⠀ ⠀ @serbiatourism #landscapelovers #SerbiaTravel #visitserbia #Landscape #Mounatains #NationalPark #mountainscape #sky_high_architecture #hillsong #skybar #skyhigh #sky_collection #naturegeography #landscape_specialist #nature_special_ #naturephotographer #nature_skyshotz #naturephotos #landscape_hunter #lakeshow #riverlife #waterblog #mountainstones #outdoorslife

Ever wondered how it feels to experience the 19th century life in 21st century?⠀ ⠀ When I visited the Ethno village “Staro selo” near Zlatibor in Western #Serbia, I saw a place steeped in history, culture and fascinating nature. It is the one and only open-air museum in Serbia preserving the tradition of Serbian highlands life.⠀ ⠀ On 50 hectares of mountainous land, there are over 50 buildings transferred from the surrounding Zlatibor villages. They represent authentic history, architecture, culture, spirituality, and traditions of the Serbian countryside life.⠀ ⠀ So, when are you going to #SeeSerbia?⠀ ⠀ -------------------------------------------------- ⠀ ⠀ PS: I was in Europe for 4 months and have been sharing untold stories from #offbeat places. #Serbia is the fifth part of my ongoing #OffbeatEuropeWithTSW series. ⠀ ⠀ ---------------------------------------------------- ⠀ ⠀ #VillageLife #SerbiaTravel #visitserbia #exploreserbia #serbiatourism @serbiatourism #WorldWarI #Architecture #History #grassland #architecturelove #barnes #briskoutdoors

Many of you have asked me, so the latest on my blog is a list of “Unusual Solo Travel Destinations to Feed Your Adventurous Spirit” - link in my profile @shivya or read it at the-shooting-star.com ? These picks are based on my solo trips over the past 7 years and include everywhere from Odisha to Ecuador! . . An excerpt: “As solo travellers, we often tend to take shelter in the same tried and tested places. The ones that rank high on online lists of “safe countries for solo travel”, which have several hostels to choose from, where tourism has made it imperative for locals to speak English and where the presence of other travellers puts us in our comfort zone. Over my solo explorations in the past seven years though, I’ve found that such places often tend to stifle our adventurous spirit. The same spirit that originally made us want to go it alone.” . . Whether you’re travelling solo for the first time or have been at it for a while; whether you love nature or seek to experience the local culture, there are places on this list for you. Go read, then tell me, where did you make your most unique and cherished solo travel memories? . . Garden Pavilion at the heritage Laxmi Niwas Palace in Bikaner #Rajasthan #India #Travel #ThrillingTravel - Now a heritage hotel, this place was actually the Royal guest house that has seen the likes of King George V. No doubt that this palace is beautiful, but I particularly loved it for its Sprawling lawns. The red Pavilions against the greens made it even more charming. I wouldn't say no to some tea and cookies out here ? - °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° #Bikaner #bikanercityblog #NarendraBhawan #ExperienceBikaner #rajasthan_igers #IncredibleIndia #india_ig #indiatravelgram #repostindia #discover_india #indiapictures #india_gram #instago #instagood #instapassport #instatravel #instatraveling #mytravelgram #tourist #photooftheday #picoftheday #architecture #heritage #travellers_captures - °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

Khas Mahal... In Agra Fort. #travel #ThrillingTravel #agra #india - These are the arched doorways of the Khas Mahal in Agra Fort. The palace served as the bed chambers of the Emperor Shahjahan. You can see the emperor's love for marble here - the intricate Persian designs carved on the white stone - which was all replicated in the Taj Mahal. What I loved about this was the play of light and shadow that gave it a different color every hour of the day. If the Golden glow of sunset made it look like this, imagine what candle light did. - °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° #UttarPradesh #agrafort #redfort #india_ig #indiatravelgram #repostindia #discover_india #indiapictures #india_gram #instago #instagood #instapassport #instatravel #instatraveling #mytravelgram #tourist #photooftheday #picoftheday #architecture #heritage #travellers_captures #travelphotography #moody_captures - °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

I am just back from by birthday week, which I spent away from social media, laptop or anywork. And loved the temporary digital detox. But before that, I did travel to Kodaikanal, where the weather was chilly, and the dramatic mist played hide and seek with the mountains. As the sunset, this was the view that I got from Kodai lake, which was crowded with toursists. I know that it's hard to believe since you don't see anyone ? But what surprised me about this shot are those magical shades of purple! Love love these shades! Hampi that used to be a prosperous and rich kingdom in the 14th century, was eventually ruined owing to the attacks made by the Moghuls. Listed under the UNESCO World Heritage Site as the Group of monuments, this city was one of the richest cities in the world when it was in its peak. As you walk through the remains of Hampis magnificent forts, palaces and gateways, you will get a glimpse of the excellent architecture of those times. Observe carefully because behind me is the stone chariot which is now printed on our 50/- rupees note?(new one) . Hampi is extremely beautiful and one needs to visit it to believe it. Every nook and corner of this place has a story to tell. Everywhere you look around you can see the ruins of the Vijaynagar Dynasty scattered around. . Wardrobe courtesy- @myntra . . Some beach somewhere, there's a big umbrella casting shade over an empty chair. Palm trees are growing, warm breezes blowing. I picture myself there, some beach somewhere. . . A day well spent in the island of Pulau Macan in Indonesia. Beautiful clear water and the sound of no one but the sweet whisper of the ocean. A place where one could go again and again and never get bored. An evening spent at this place would be a dream for everyone but lucky are those who get to spend their entire day at this island.
