It has been 37 years since the Indian team lifted the maiden World Cup trophy in 1983. All the struggles, resentments, criticism saw its answer as India beat the West Indies and brought the cup home. It was also the time when the country saw a rise in the love for the game. The team led by Kapil Dev included Sunil Gavaskar, K Srikkanth, Mohinder Amarnath, Yashpal Sharma, SM Patil, Kirti Azad, Roger Binny, Madan Lal, Syed Kirmani, and Balwinder Sandhu. The historic win saw the Indian team managed to hold their grip on the field and beat their opponent with 43 runs. The game changed the entire cricket scenario in the country turning it into a religion of its own. Even after years, fans can't stop but rejoice the day when India made its mark on the global level with its first World Cup win.
