Amazon Prime Video unveiled the Tandav trailer and here's what the cast and makers have to say!

Created and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Himanshu Kishan Mehra and Ali Abbas Zafar, Tandav, the 9-part series and will premiere on Amazon. Read on to find out more about the Tandav trailer.

After a powerful teaser that left viewers intrigued and impressed, Amazon Prime Video welcomes the New Year by unveiling the highly anticipated Tandav trailer which is an Amazon Original Series.

The 9-episode engrossing political drama is written by Gaurav Solanki and features a stellar ensemble cast including Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Dino MoreaKumud Mishra, Gauahar Khan, Amyra Dastur, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, Kritika Kamra, Sarah Jane Dias, Sandhya Mridul, Annup Sonii, Hitten Ttejwani, Paresh Pahujaand Shonali Nagrani among others.

Along with Ali Abbas Zafar, Tandav also marks the digital debut of Dimple Kapadia and Kritika Kamra and presents actors Saif Ali Khan, Zeeshan Ayyub and Sunil Grover in never before seen avatars.

Produced by Himanshu Kishan Mehra and Ali Abbas Zafar, Tandav is created and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar who makes his digital directorial debut with this series.

Prime members in India and in more than 240 countries and territories can stream all episodes of Tandav starting January 15, 2021. The trailer of the show takes viewers behind the closed, chaotic corridors of power and politics. Set in the capital of the world’s largest democracy, the series is a gripping, fictional drama that showcases the lengths to which people go in the pursuit of power.

Talking about his character in Tandav, Saif Ali Khan said, “The entertainment industry in India is going through a renaissance and stories like Tandavare at the forefront of this change. As an actor, for me, a good piece of dramatic writing and a compelling creation featuring grey characters is always exciting. As I read about the complexities of my character Samar and dived deeper into the world of Tandav, I knew that I had to play this character. I look forward to the show’s release on Amazon Prime Video.”

“Tandav is a political thriller drama.” said actress Dimple Kapadia. “It is a fiction that perhaps gives you a vivid insight into backroom politicking and what goes on in the country’s power corridors. Anuradha is the kind of character that I have never played before and I am glad to be making my digital debut into digital streaming with a show that is backed by a credible cast & crew. “In Tandav, I will not be seen wearing a saree and making people laugh!” exclaimed Sunil Grover. Talking about his character, Sunil added, “Gurpal is a multi-layered character and something I have never done. Having worked withAli earlier, I knew that Tandav will is a compelling storyline that is edgy yet entertaining. Ali has created a world that is gripping and give my character the depth that an actor longs for. Saying yes to this role was instinctive and working with accomplished Artists such as Saif, Dimple Ji is a bonus. Hope Tandaventertains everyone"

Aparna Purohit talks about the theme of the show and what made her choose a political drama. She said,

"Over the last four years, we at Amazon Prime Video have worked towards telling compelling stories that speak to audiences across the length and breadth of the country. I am proud to say that Tandav is the story

that is truly rooted in our soil. This our first political drama. It is an interesting story about the pursuit of power and the lengths one will go to get it and in some cases keep it. It has the right doses of all the ingredients: Love, Hate, Deceive, Betrayal, Suspense, and Thrill. When Ali came to us with the story in 2017, we instantly knew that this is the story to be told. He was passionate about his idea. Moreover, it is amazing to see how Himanshu has managed to put together all the efforts in this composition along with managing to get a stellar cast on-board - Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Dino Morea Kumud Mishra, Gauahar Khan, Amyra Dastur, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, Kritika Kamra, Sarah Jane Dias, Sandhya Mridul, Annup Sonii, Hitten Ttejwani, Paresh Pahuja, and Shonali Nagrani all have outdone themselves to nail their performances in the show. It has been a wonderful journey and together we have seen Tandav take shape and become a series. We are incredibly proud to present this to our customers. We have always endeavoured to tell stories that are culturally rooted, shows that can speak to many Indias that co-exists. Also, we try to ensure that we have a good bank of all the genres that exist. For example – war drama – The Forgotten Army, musical – Bandish Bandits, comedy like Four More Shots Please!, crime drama and thrillers like Paatal Lok, The Family Man and Mirzapur. I think the only missing piece was a political drama and Tandav addresses that need gap. I distinctly remember when Ali ( Ali Abbas Zafar, Creator or Tandav) narrated the story to us in 2017. He is a very visual narrator. We felt that the story was a peek into the world that we read about in newspapers and seen on the television but hardly know about it in detail. It was a very easy decision to make to opt for this one. And then finally the wonderful cast came together for this show and breathed life into the characters and created all the magic. I am incredibly proud of this show and this journey that we have had."
