Day 2 of Cannes Film Festival was star studded to say the least. Check out these deets to be in the loop!

The 78th Cannes Film Festival is on in full swing - from movie screenings to interesting panels, the festival is a dream for cinephiles who are lucky enough to be there. Day 2 commenced with the much anticipated premiere of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. So it goes without saying that the star of the evening, Tom Cruise, was present along with the entire cast as well. The festival also paid tribute to one of cinema’s greats aka David Lynch who passed away in January this year. His son attended the festival on his behalf. Eva Longoria marked her annual presence at the carpet this year in association with L’Oreal. Actress Nandinee Khosla represented India as she made her debut at the festival last evening.

Here’s more details on all that happened on Day 2!

Tom Cruise returned to Cannes after a gap of three years. After his appearance at the festival for Top Gun: Maverick, he was now seen on the carpet for Mission: Impossible -The Final Reckoning which will be the last and final chapter in this franchise. The cast including Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Simon Pegg and Hannah Waddingham amongst others were also seen gracing the carpet. Post the screening of the film, Tom Cruise also received a five minute standing ovation from the entire crowd for his performance in the film. 

Zoe Kravitz was also seen at the carpet as she attended the Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning premiere.

Eva Longoria represented L’Oreal on the carpet as always!

Cannes paid tribute to the late David Lynch through a documentary that was made on his contributions to the world of cinema so far. His son, Riley Lynch attended the premiere of ‘Welcome to Lynchland’ and helped introduce the film with a few words. 

Konstantin Bojanov’sThe Shameless’ which premiered at the festival last year, had a screening this year as well. The story centers around a sex worker from southern India named Renuka who faces social and religious challenges.The film won Anasuya Sengupta the Un Certain Regard Award for Best Actress. 

There are quite a few Indians making a name for themselves globally at Cannes this year and one of them is Nandinee Khosla. She debuted at the festival last evening and her film The Second Wind is also premiering at the festival this year!

The French festival set up a rendez-vous with industry legends Robert De Niro and Christopher McQuarrie. While De Niro shared insights of how he goes about portraying a character, McQuarrie spoke about his journey as a screen writer and director, and was also accompanied by his latest movie’s lead star Tom Cruise.
