From The Studio scripting history for the most wins, to Owen Cooper becoming the youngest male actor to bag the top TV honor, Emmy Awards 2025 were iconic in many ways.
The 77th Emmy Awards, held on Sunday, celebrated the very best of the 2024-2025 television season. Held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the event honoured some of the most standout performances and stories with shows like The Studio, Severance, and Adolescence, sweeping up numerous awards. Actors like Cristin Milioti, Seth Rogen, and Britt Lowerwere also recognized for their work, taking home some of the night's biggest honors. The award show was marked by some historic victories, emotional speeches and memorable moments that celebrated the small screen this year. The ceremony, just like any other celebrity event, has set social media abuzz.

In a record-setting night, Apple TV+'s The Studio bagged 13 awards to become the most-awarded comedy series in a single season. The show's creator and star Seth Rogen, too had a memorable evening, taking home Emmys for Lead Actor, and sharing wins for both Directing and Writing in a Comedy Series.

In the drama category, HBO's new medical drama The Pitt won Outstanding Drama Series with it's protagonist Noah Wyle taking home the Lead Actor award for his role as the fan favourite ER doctor Robbie and Katherine LaNasa winning as the Supporting Actress of the show. The highly-nominated Severance dominated the acting categories, with Britt Lower winning for Lead Actress and Tramell Tillman making history as the first Black man to win Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Netflix’s most talked about series this year - Adolescence enjoyed a clean sweep in the Limited Series categories, winning six awards. The show’s 15-year-old star Owen Cooper, who won the Emmy for Supporting Actor scripted history becoming the youngest male actor to win the award. The series's co-creator and star Stephen Graham won both Lead Actor and shared the Writing Emmy, while Erin Doherty won Supporting Actress.

Besides, Jean Smart continued her winning streak securing her fourth Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy for her iconic role in Hacks. Cristin Milioti's performance in The Penguin earned her a Lead Actress award win in the Limited Series category. Meanwhile, In the variety categories, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver won for Scripted Variety Series, while the SNL50: The Anniversary Special took home the award for Best Live Variety Special. The Traitors, on the other hand, won for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.

The ceremony also featured some standout moments and speeches. Stephen Colbert gave an emotional speech as The Late Show won for Outstanding Talk Series in what is set to be its final season. Following a massive standing ovation, the winner jokingly asked 'Is anyone hiring?' Meanwhile Hacks star, Hannah Einbinder, who bagged her first Emmy for Supporting Actress, celebrated her win with a politically charged speech.
