New Update
Badhaai Do

Harshvardhan Kulkarni's Badhaai Do starring Bhumi Pednekar and Rajkumar Rao trailer released recently and it looks like a fun comedy that's full of secrets.

Badhaai Do is considered as a sequel of Badhaai Ho that brings forth a completely different issue. While the Ayushmann starrer talked about elders having a sexual desire and pregnancy at a older age, this one talks about a marriage of convenience, also known as 'Lavendar Marriage', between different sexual orientations. Being queer is tough in our society and while we're beginning to warm up to conversations about the community we have a long way to go. So when a commercial movie addresses queer issues in a much larger set-up, it's always appreciated and that's what this film is probably trying to do.

According to the trailer, Bhumi Pednekar identifies as lesbian and Rajkumar Rao as gay, and yet they marry each other just to get society and their parents off their backs about marriage. Each one knows about the other's sexual orientation and is okay to accept other's partners too. But while the couple thinks they have found a smart way out without having to come out of the closet to the world there's yet another shoe left to drop - kids. Now how does a couple like that consummate the wedding? That's what the comedy is based on!

The trailer also opens up conversation around Lavendar Marriages and will this movie turn out to be a good step for the community.

It also stars Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chaddha, Lovleen Mishra, Nitesh Pandey, Shashi Bhushan, Chum Darang, and Deepak Arora in pivotal roles. Directed and co-written by Harshavardhan Kulkarni, the film is slated to be released on February 11 in theatres. It's also co-directed by Kirti Nakhwa, and Prateek Vats, co-written by Akshat Ghildial, and Suman Adhikary, and produced by Vineet Jain.
