From the high-maintenance divas who communicate solely in voice notes to the rebels who mute the chat for days, these groups capture the beautiful, messy reality of female friendship!
At the end of the day, it's all about having people you can share the mundanities of life with, for there’s nothing a group chat cannot fix. The random voice notes about something embarrassing you did, the frustrating rants about your manager who cancelled your long-approved leaves on the very last minute or those screenshots of bad pick-up lines or unwanted compliments someone sent you- the group chat can absorb it all and make the frustrations feel smaller with their quirky comments or some perfect memes. They remind you that the dumb, annoying, lonely bits of life aren’t yours to carry alone, and we're all in this together!
Now, imagine the chaos if Bollywood’s iconic female characters across timelines had a place to vent, rant, and celebrate like this! As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we're imagining how the WhatsApp notifications of our beloved silver-screen divas would look like, given they would blow up the chats with their sass, humour and emotional support, capturing the messy yet beautiful reality of female friendships!
Take a look!
The Slay Queens
Members: Poo, Geet, Shanaya, and Rani.
Expect this group to be brimming with self-love and high-maintenance vibes. Poo (Kareena Kapoor Khan, K3G) would definitely serve as the self-appointed admin of the chat who’d bring the ‘No Basic Profile Pictures’ policy. Geet (Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jab We Met) would spam the group with 10 voice notes, usually boasting about her bargaining skills or how she boarded a train in the nick of time, yet again! Totally imagining her to be interrupted by Shanaya (Alia Bhatt, SOTY) who, would ask which shade of pink to choose from ten similar dresses on her shopping spree in Paris. Rani (Kangana Ranaut, Queen) would be the heart of this group, who might take a little time in understanding some jokes, but would balance it all with the most innocent yet sensible advice for each one of the other girls' problems.
Guns and Roses
Members: Sehmat, Vidya Bagchi, Shivani Shivaji Roy, and Safina.
Probably the most dangerous and no-nonsense ‘Girls' Trip’ planners list in history. Shivani (Rani Mukerji, Mardaani) and Sehmat (Alia Bhatt, Raazi) won't chat, they would provide detailed itinerary and weather reports to keep the plan precise. Vidya, (Vidya Balan, Kahaani) on the other hand, would be the silent observer, the one who notices the tiny details in the pictures or stories that the others are sharing. The real chaos, however, will come from Safina (Alia Bhatt, Gully Boy) who’d pester the other members of the group to hack or teach her tricks to spy on her boyfriend Murad’s (Ranveer Singh) phone to keep an eye on his activities from afar!
Terrible Gossips
Members: Laila, Veronica, Aisha, and Naina
Totally imagining this group chat to be ‘Pinterest aesthetic’. Laila (Katrina Kaif, ZNMD) would constantly send some uber-cool underwater pictures and remind the girls to live life to the fullest. Veronica (Deepika Padukone, Cocktail) could set the chats on fire with her cool selfies and typo-filled messages sent at 3 AM from a club in London. Aisha (Sonam Kapoor, Aisha) would be the chief aesthetics control officer of the group, approving everyone’s pictures before they upload them on Instagram. Naina (Deepika Padukone, YJHD) would be the most ‘normal’ one in the group, who would keep the girls grounded in reality and warn them of acting on their impulses.
Desi Rebels and Runaways
Members: Tanu, Shruti, Kavya Pratap, and Mili.
The busiest and loudest of the groups, Desi Rebels and Runaways, would have Shruti (Anushka Sharma, Band Baja Baraat) brainstorming ideas to grow her business and help others set their own. Kavya (Alia Bhatt, HSKD) would be ranting about Humpty (Varun Dhawan) and enquiring about designer lehengas and their prices with the girl gang. Tanu (Kangana Ranaut, Tanu Weds Manu) would be the one constantly exiting the group over the slightest disagreements, only to return with emotional confessions. Our clumsy queen Mili (Sonam Kapoor, Khoobsurat) would accidentally send flirtatious texts intended for Vikram (Fawad Khan) in the group, leading to hours of relentless roasting.
The Lioness’ Club
Members: Meenamma, Mastani, Gangubai, and Dhanko Baa.
The group chat with the maximum sass, spirit of rebellion and strong-headed women, The Lioness' Club will be led by Gangubai (Alia Bhatt, Gangubai Kathiawaadi) and her heavy-hitting wisdom. Mastani (Deepika Padukone, Bajirao Mastani) would add a touch of tragic romance, often sharing Urdu poetry in the group. While Meenamma (Deepika Padukone, Chennai Express) would provide some comic relief, mostly complaining about her father’s henchmen and her struggle with Hindi autocorrect. Dhankor Baa (Supriya Pathak Kapur, Ram-Leela) would simply react with a single emoji or one word, keeping the younger girls in a constant state of respectful anxiety.
