Bads of Bollywood

These movies and TV shows are set to keep us fed while we eagerly await the second season of The Ba***ds of Bollywood

Aryan Khan’s show, The Ba***ds of Bollywood cracked open Bollywood’s underbelly of glam, glitz, betrayal, film deals and big cameos. It didn’t just leave us entertained but also has been lingering on our minds for quite some time now! The behind the scenes of how everything pans out in the film world is bound to leave us hungry for more and not just that, the series also references other Bollywood movies made on similar lines. Hence now that we’ve binged the seven part story, we’re left with wanting to watch shows and movies that we were reminded of while being glued to this one! Thankfully, there’s enough and more in this genre already to keep us busy.

When better than now to dive into the universe of films and the good, bad and ugly side of it all?

Lucky By Chance - Prime Video

Revolving around a struggling actor, Vikram, trying to make it in Bollywood, Luck By Chance captures the heart of what it’s like for outsiders and the fame they receive when they actually make it! Similar to Aasman’s journey, this one also puts its faith in someone who dared to dream big. The cameos in the film are a sweet surprise just like The Ba***ds of Bollywood!

Om Shanti Om - Netflix

Speaking of cameos, Om Shanti Om might just take the cake home! There never was and never will be another film where the entire industry comes under one roof and celebrates the phenomenon we call Bollywood! While Aryan Khan comes close to doing that in his series, Om Shanti Om makes it to our list more for the Farah Khan like meta humour than the big cameos. If you watched Ba**ds of Bollywood for the present, watch Om Shanti Om to cherish the past!

The Studio - AppleTV+

Seth Rogen’s The Studio feels like The Hollywood version of The Ba***ds of Bollywood, barring the wacky plot twists of course. But the inner workings of the film industry and cameos from the who's who of Hollywood amidst a chaotic setting of movie politics is all in there for a good weekend binge!

Hollywood - Netflix

This miniseries explores Hollywood in the late 1940s, in the post world war II era where power dynamics in the American film industry are dismantled and a new era of experimenting with actors and stories begins!

Call My Agent - Netflix

At Paris talent firm, A.S.K, agents scramble to keep their star clients happy and their business afloat. Three agents, Mathias, Gabriel and Andréa, juggle one situation after another in circumstances that blend their personal and professional lives. The series works around the world of actors and how their managers try their best to get them the best projects in the industry, just like Sanya wanted the best for Aasman!

Behind Every Star - Netflix

Behind Every Star is the Korean remake of Call My Agent, while most of the story works on similar lines, the show gives it its own little K-drama twist!

Showtime - JioHotstar

Showtime is exactly what The Ba***ds of Bollywood is sans the popular cameos or even any kind of humour. It is straight up behind the scene politics that has you guessing which arc is taken from which real superstar’s life. If not for the story, watch it for the lead actor of the show aka Emraan Hashmi because like Parvaiz says, “pura Bollywood ek taraf aur Emraan Hashmi ek taraf”.

La La Land - Prime Video

La La Land might not be similar to The Ba***ds of Bollywood but it does have cinema as the core heart of the film. Mia is a struggling actress trying to find her big break while simultaneously Seb also tries to make it big in the music industry. When their dreams do come true, whether their relationship survives the test of time or not is the crux of the story!
