Nobody celebrates the spirit of family like Bollywood does, so here we imagine what each fictional member would bring to our Thanksgiving dinner table!
What’s better than a home that smells like roasted turkey and fresh-baked goodies, while everyone is yelling at the TV during a game of football or cricket? Your siblings are running around causing chaos, and uncles are bickering like kids over their political ideologies, which is getting the rest laughing. That's Thanksgiving or any celebratory dinner to me - being in the company of your loved ones, and cherishing these perfectly imperfect moments! And honestly, nobody celebrates family like Bollywood! All that drama, emotions, and melodramatic expression of love make the stories resonate better!
Here are 9 Bollywood families who would make our Thanksgiving more special with their quirks!
The Raichands (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham)
The Raichands would probably make the grandest entry with their private helicopters landing in our backyard, and drawing everyone’s attention! Yashji (Amitabh Bachchan) would be the perfect choice to carve out the turkey and start the dinner with one of his famous emotional speeches about family. Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), on the other hand, would bond with other uncles over some terrible dad jokes, and Anjali would win over everyone with her over-the-top yet unique quirks. Poo (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) would be that perfect couple who could teach the younger lot how to pose for an Instagram selfie, or navigate relationship problems.
The Kapoors (Kapoor and Sons)
Chaotic but super entertaining, the Kapoors would make it an evening to remember with their loud presence. Dadu (Rishi Kapoor) would flirt with all the ladies, while Arjun (Sidharth Malhotra) and Rahul (Fawad Khan) turn passive-aggressive over something as trivial as a wishbone! We can see Sunita (Ratna Pathak Shah) being a crowd favourite with her sharp sarcasm and her food discussions.
The Sandhus (Son of Sardaar)
The Sandhus would bring some hardcore Punjabi swag to the otherwise simple dinner. Known for their hospitality and great food, we can totally expect the Sandhus, especially Pammiji (Juhi Chawla) to get some delicious delicacies from her kitchen while also telling stories of how she handpicked ingredients from different parts of her town. Billuji, (Sanjay Dutt) on the other hand, would share interesting anecdotes of his feared and revered clan while happily volunteering to welcome guests and make sure everyone’s at ease.
The Duggals (Do Dooni Chaar)
Totally trusting the Duggals to show up terribly late at the dinner while arguing with each other, drawing unwanted attention from the other guests! To make up for the chaotic entry, Manju (Neetu Singh Kapoor) would immediately offer to set up the dinner table while Santosh (Rishi Kapoor) would delightfully pass on some quick math tips and tricks to the children around. Given the family’s possessiveness for their car and fuel consciousness, we think they would be the first ones to leave the dinner to avoid traffic during rush hours!
The Sarabhais (Sarabhai vs Sarabhai)
Another family that would arrive fashionably late, the Sarabhais would charm everyone with their So-Bo sophistication before Maya Sarabhai resorts to her snobbish ways, much to the exasperation of other guests. We are totally imagining her critiquing the dinner arrangements and making snarky remarks over other attendees' styling choices while sipping on her wine.Sahil (Sumeet Raghavan) would try to control the damage with his polite demeanour while Indravadhan (Satish Shah) shares some Maya stories with the guests his wife offended.Monisha will be busy gasping over how expensive everything is at the party before Roshesh’s (Rajesh Kumar) quirky poems cut the evening short.
The Mishras (Gullak)
The adorable Mishras will enter the party with their modest but thoughtful gifts. Slightly intimidated by the high-profile attendees, Mishraji (Jamil Khan) would settle into a corner with a mild smile, quietly observing the proceedings. While Shanti (Geetanjali Kulkarni) would win over everyone with her warmth and simplicity. Annu (Vaibhav Raj Gupta) and Aman(Harsh Mayar) could be tasked with entertaining and keeping the kids occupied with their quirks.

The Chaudharys (Ready)
The Chaudharys would arrive with a whirlwind of energy and some questionable fashion choices. We can totally picture them leading the proceedings with their unpolished manners and loud, unfiltered jokes that could lead to some arguments. But can you even imagine a desi get-together without some kalesh or heated exchanges? We think they would totally be able to make up for their unruly behaviour with their cool dance moves.
The Tiwaris (The Family Man)
The Tiwaris would arrive at the dinner with the precision of a well-planned operation with Srikant (Manoj Bajpayee) scanning the overall mood and vibe of the gathering with his sharp eyes. We are already seeing him politely inquiring about the ingredients of the dish and requesting vegetarian options. Since no one negotiates like Sri, we think he would be the perfect choice to mediate any minor conflicts arising between our mismatched guests! Truth be told, we would also be relying on junior Tiwaris - Dhriti (Ashlesha Thakur) and Atharv (Vedant Sinha) to keep the dinner discourse politically correct with their social awareness and feisty attitude!
