Blonde

Based on a novel by Joyce Carol Oates and directed by Andrew Dominik, Blonde stars Ana de Armas as the iconic Marilyn Monroe, a highly popular yet controversial face of America.

Netflix released the trailer of its highly anticipated and probably the Oscar play of this year, Blonde. It's a biopic of the legendary star and the sex symbol of the 50s-60s who is remembered for both her work and her tragic personal life that was too controversial. From the trailer, it looks like Ana de Armas transformed completely and embodied an uncanny flawless look of Monroe. The film shot in different aspect ratios is in both black-and-white and color and tries to explore and seek the person behind Marilyn Monroe, the star.

The two-minute trailer is essentially a montage of several glimpses of the iconic star's glamorous yet tragic personal and professional life with fame and addiction that is set to the song, Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend. The film chronicles the life of the star from being Norma Jean to becoming the iconic Marilyn Monroe, a blonde bombshell who was watched by all but seen by none. Other than Ana, the film also casts Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel, and Evan Williams. Blonde will release on Netflix on September 28.

The brief and tragic life of this sex symbol has been told many times either in books or in documentaries and the recent one is on Netflix titled 'The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes' directed by Emma Cooper which talks about Marilyn's life and is told through archival footage and unseen interviews with friends of the star. While the trailer looks promising, we're excited to watch the film in September!
