Men makeup and grooming need to be perceived as basic self-care that should be accepted and normalised by the society we live in.
If you’re a woman reading this article when was the last time you pampered yourself at a salon or a spa? If you’re a man, what would be your answer to the same question? Chances are it’s never. Using facial products or fixing the eyebrows doesn’t make men feminine. The world is changing and so should the stereotypes around men and their grooming habits.
Grooming oneself is an idea of self-love and moisturising, exfoliating or getting manicures and pedicures done are habits that shouldn’t be forbidden. Some men still resist the idea of grooming because they’re conditioned to be that way but we often tend to forget that all these habits are gender-neutral.
It’s 2020 and we are restructuring the idea of what it means to be a man as more and more guys are experimenting with makeup and grooming. Paving way for gender neutrality and metrosexuality, it is upon us to get rid of the rigid standards for men and encourage them to often visit salons and indulge in self-care because it is healthy- mentally and physically!
