How are creators using threads to rethink their content strategy? We spoke to Rena Goswami, Israa Shaikh, and Vikram Rajpurohit to find out.
When Threads launched, everyone rushed to create an account, curious to see what this new platform had to offer. Was it just Instagram’s little sibling or something entirely different? As it turns out, Threads emerged as a refreshing alternative to the polished, performance-driven approach of most social media platforms. Its minimalist design and focus on text-first content brought something new, especially for creators looking to connect with their audience in a more authentic way. For content creators, the appeal is in how the platform allows storytelling, quick conversations, and unfiltered moments. It offers an opportunity for engagement that feels more real and less rehearsed. No ads on this platform and no parody accounts make it all the more hit amongst creators.
This year, creators across different niches explored Threads in their own way. From microblogging and sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses, testing new ideas to just having plain simple conversations with their audiences, they’ve found ways to make the platform work for them. How exactly have creators been using Threads though? What does it bring to the table for engagement? To explore this, and how this app is shaping content creation strategies, we spoke with creators Rena Goswami, Israa Shaikh, and Vikram Rajpurohit.

A platform for unfiltered thoughts and conversations
While Instagram thrives on visual perfection, and especially Reels demands engaging short-form videos, Threads is carving out its niche as a space for casual, unfiltered dialogue. Creators use the platform to showcase the thoughts and moments that often don’t make it to their other social media profiles. For Rena Goswami, Threads is a place to unwind and be herself. "I’ve been using Threads to share quick thoughts, fun updates, and things I don’t usually post on Instagram. It feels more like chatting with friends.”
The platform’s relaxed interface also appealed to travel content creator Vikram Rajpurohit, who uses it to complement his Instagram feed. "At first, it was just for personal stories. But now it’s grown into a space where I can share quick reflections, mini travel guides, and behind-the-scenes moments from my creative process." This sense of intimacy is a key part of Threads’ charm. Israa Shaikh, who values dialogue over performance, sees the platform as a chance to strip back the artifice of social media. "Threads promote candid conversations and encourage a better connection with your audience.”
One of Threads’ biggest strengths is its emphasis on engagement. Unlike platforms where likes and views dominate, Threads feels more like an ongoing conversation. Rena mentions that people on Threads seem to enjoy the relaxed vibe. "They’re more likely to jump into conversations or respond to my posts. It’s refreshing—it feels like a two-way street."
This conversational dynamic has also helped creators connect with their audiences on a deeper level. Vikram highlights how his audience appreciates the spontaneity. "Threads lets me share raw, real-time thoughts, which makes storytelling more personal and interactive.” For Israa, the platform’s informality has been a game-changer. "It’s easier to reach a wide audience, and there’s complete flexibility in how you post.” This flexibility has made Threads a go-to platform for creators who want to experiment without worrying about fitting into an algorithm.
Threads in a broader strategy
For many creators, Threads isn’t just another social media platform but an integral part of their strategy. Its casual tone offers a unique way to build stronger relationships with followers while complementing the content they post elsewhere. "Threads is Rena’s go-to for staying connected in a casual way. “It adds a personal touch to my overall presence and helps me build a closer bond with my audience."
Vikram has taken a more structured approach, using Threads to bridge the gap between inspiration and interaction. "Instagram highlights the destination, but Threads focuses on the journey.” By testing new ideas, posting thought-provoking prompts, and refining his storytelling through feedback, he’s created a more well-rounded online presence.
Challenges and limitations
While Threads has gained popularity for its authenticity, it isn’t perfect. Creators have encountered a few roadblocks that hinder its growth potential. One major limitation is discoverability. "Unlike Instagram, it’s harder for new audiences to find content organically, according to Vikram. “Features like hashtags or improved search tools would make it easier to connect with niche audiences.” Another common complaint is the lack of analytics. "Creators rely on data to shape their strategies," explains Israa. "Without detailed insights on performance, it’s harder to understand what works."
As Threads continues to evolve, creators are hopeful it will address these challenges while maintaining its core simplicity. They see potential for the platform to become even more creator-friendly with the right updates. Rena is eager for features that boost interaction, like polls and Q&A stickers. "These tools would make Threads more engaging and fun.”
Vikram sees room for growth in creative tools, such as post scheduling and seamless multimedia integration. "Adding these features would make Threads even more versatile for creators like me.” Israa hopes for broader improvements, including accessibility features and personalized feeds. "Tailoring the main feed to specific topics or interests would foster a stronger sense of community.”
Threads is proving that there’s more to social media than flashy visuals and viral trends. By prioritizing conversations and spontaneity. It is creating a space where creators can connect with their audiences on a more personal level. For Rena, Vikram, and Israa, Threads has become a valuable tool not just for sharing content, but for maintaining meaningful connection and refining their creative process. While the platform still has room to grow, it’s clear that Threads is making a difference for content creators.
