Payal and Tena Jain

Paayal Jain shares some BTS of working with her sibling, Tena and their mutual love for creativity and storytelling.

There’s nothing like being able to spend time with someone you grew up with either fighting over the lamest thing or sharing a love for something similar. Being under the same roof and sharing a love-hate relationship with your sibling is probably the best part of having them. It’s often said that they are the friends we didn’t choose but we're glad to hang out with them nonetheless. It’s bound for us to deliver something diabolical, especially if we share a love for the same thing with people we love. Maybe that’s also why we love watching siblings like Paayal and Tena Jain create content together.

With over 700K followers and millions of views for their stories, what does it actually feel like for these creators to be producing stories with a sibling? For any work to feel exciting, one needs to love the person they are working with. If that someone is their sibling, that only adds to the excitement of doing something we love. This camaraderie is exactly what works for Paayal and Tena, who love sharing the same work.

According to them, knowing each other since they're born makes executing content ideas better, making working together the best part. “Sometimes she understands me better than I understand myself. We can easily set aside our arguments and focus on work if any occur. Both of us have such different personalities, which also makes our work better." While Paayal look at things with more intuition and creativity, Tena thinks practically, which makes the execution better.

There is a shared dynamic between two siblings that enhances how creative work turns out. It adds to not only their stories but also their relationship, shaping how they perceive each other. “I would say our relationship improved even more after working together. I did not expect this before deciding to work with her. We now know each other.” Part of this can also be attributed to how they share their work. Understanding and building on each other's strengths helps you make something worth sharing with the world. Dividing roles and deciding who handles the visuals and writing can help streamline the process. However, for the Jain sisters, it's all about working in unison. Both collaborate on the script and jointly ensure their vision comes to life. Paayal mentioned how, on the edit part, she takes over the selection of clips. "Ideation to direction has both of our visions."

Being a sibling often means playfully dismissing each other's work, which can be quite enjoyable. You might find joy in showing your sibling how you can do the same task better. However, in a professional setting, providing constructive criticism can be challenging. Paayal and Tena face this very issue: they struggle to give each other feedback. Despite this, they have learned how to navigate the situation and keep their professional and personal lives separate. However, according to Paayal, spending so much time together tends to blur those lines. "I think when family members work together, there’s little distinction left between personal and professional life. Most of our time is taken up by work. Even when we're on vacation, we're always thinking of new content ideas or creating Reels and shorts."

Paayal and Tena's journey is a reminder that working with a sibling isn't always about just creating content; it can be a creative experience of building a stronger relationship with your sibling while sharing stories that matter to you. Their love for creativity fuels their work, but it’s their love for each other that makes it truly special.
