wacomo

Weaving stories about the most random parts of his life to giving his friends the 'main character' treatment that they need, Wacomo seems like the perfect person to narrate our lives and here's why.

Remember those iconic movie trailers from the 2000s? What made them stand out was not just the aesthetics, but having a person narrate the premise of the story. Although it felt redundant at times, it was something that added an extra layer of magic to the story. As part of this ‘delulu’ generation that keeps going back to those aesthetics, it is only fair that we are excited to see it make a comeback with the trailer of Materialists! Watching it has us craving our own life-narrated montage. Imagine someone narrating our life like, "While her workload continued to pile up, she chose to do what suited her best; scroll through her Instagram!" as we pretend to gaze at an imaginary camera. Personally, I would love for that narrator to be Wacomo.

Today, when we are constantly overwhelmed with a content stream, it's evident how difficult it is to find a favourite among them. It’s not always that you come across a profile that makes you want to stay. Every profile seems like a branch of the same tree, only some grow longer than others. In this content deluge, profiles like Wacomo reprise our faith in creativity. And if I want my already boring, uneventful life to feel more lively, I would definitely need someone like him to use his magic. I think his narration can show me the exciting part of my life that I often forget about and should be grateful for.

If you are not convinced about why him, then here's why I think he is the perfect fit -

Wacomo has a peculiar way of sharing parts of his life. It's dynamic, expressive and mostly free-spirited. You instantly feel like you are part of a movie that's as wholesome as it gets. Exhibit A, his videos where he introduces his friends.

We all have our own way of describing what our friendships look like, but Wacomo's way of doing it feels more like a love letter. You start feeling close to these people, whom you don't know personally. Honestly, who wouldn't want to be friends with someone who shows you just how they pursue you?

His editing style is also something that, hypothetically, captivates you. They don't always need to be something groundbreaking, he can turn anything into a piece of art! You discover random trivia within a beautifully crafted narrative that resembles a children's book that was responsible for activating most of our creativity growing up. By incorporating the childish charm we often forget in our adult lives, he brings back the silliness we barely realise we miss.

Like that time he talked about being an adult with freedom, while reminding us of how we miss making the most of it. By sharing a compilation of all the intrusive thoughts that feel like a scrapbook of our favourite childhood activity, he reminds us to live a little every now and then.

Or calling us out by reminding us of the things we cling to but tend to forget over time. While we often complain to our mothers about their habit of saving every delivery box for 'potential future use', we know that we too have boxes filled with items we keep hidden, unable to part with them due to our attachment. By revealing this similar part of his life, which could also be embarrassing, he illustrates how similar we truly are.

It's his creative and eccentric approach to sharing these experiences that truly distinguishes him. You are never bored but engaged and entertained to know more about these quite joys that add meaning to our lives.

Getting jumbled up in deadlines and basics that are part of adulting, we often overlook the small things that bring meaning to our lives, turning them into yet another 'forgot this was the whole point' trend. Wacomo's storytelling reflects the kind of kindness and love for life that tends to fade as we get into the nitty-gritties of our adult life. In our constant quest for standout, there is no one better than Wacomo, who fills us with that good kinda feeling.
