From long-awaited sequels to headline-making collabs, the internet had plenty to talk about this week.

This week, we saw the internet explode with new trends, debates, and share-worthy moments. Here’s a brief rundown of everything that caught people’s attention.

Vivienne Westwood X NANA Collab

Vivienne Westwood has partnered with Ai Yazawa’s beloved manga NANA for its 25th anniversary, bringing together the brand’s punk roots and the series’ instantly recognisable fashion aesthetic. The collaboration includes new artwork of Nana Osaki and Nana Komatsu dressed in classic Westwood pieces, along with a small range of limited-edition accessories inspired by their personalities. Fans are thrilled to finally see this crossover happen, but many have also complained that the launch felt messy and the collection too limited, calling it a missed chance to create something bigger and more exciting.

Divija Bhasin controversy

Divija Bhasin sparked outrage with a viral reel she posted attempting to “reclaim” the Hindi slur “r**di”. She argued the word is used to police women for everyday actions, but while some supported her stance against misogyny, many accused her of trivializing sex workers’ trauma and influencing minors, eventually leading to FIRs under POCSO and IT Acts. The controversy is being talked about everywhere this week, and now people are jumping in with their own opinions. They’re even recreating the whole trend by sharing their personal takes, adding their own twist to the conversation and some have even created parody videos of the original.

Memes and trends

3rd December

The 3rd December sweater trend, inspired by Conan Gray’s Heather and its “me in your sweater” lyric, has taken over social media again. This year, people are leaning into the humour of it, making memes about how they have no one to exchange sweaters with this season.

What's the worst that could happen

Sometimes we’re faced with a tough decision and we calm ourselves by thinking, “What’s the worst that could happen?” But then the worst-case scenario ends up being way beyond anything we imagined, and social media is obsessed with this trend right now, turning that feeling into a flood of painfully relatable memes. On the lighter side, people are also using it to look back at the impulsive decisions they took in the past and how those choices ended up influencing their lives in unexpectedly big ways.

Instagram’s doodle update

We’ve all awakened our inner artist ever since Instagram rolled out its doodle feature. But some people have taken it a little too far, posting doodle art that feels almost too good to be true.

People are flexing their upper-body strength by doing dead hangs and even adding a little dance to go with the trend.
