A quick scroll through everything that had the internet talking this week.

Last week gave the internet plenty to obsess over, from random trends to major viral moments. Here’s a short breakdown of what dominated online conversations.

Pop culture conversations:

Next Year’s Met Gala theme is out

Next year’s Met Gala theme is finally out and everyone online already has something to say about it. The show is going to look at how fashion represents the human body by pairing iconic outfits with artworks from the Museum’s huge collection. The whole idea is to show how clothes and the body are connected in an artistic way, and people on social media are buzzing about how interesting this theme could be.

Memes and Trends:

Trend for saving an argument

When your friend suddenly starts making valid points in the middle of an argument and you’d rather do literally anything than admit they’re right, you’re not alone. Social media has turned this exact situation into a trend. All you have to do is break the fourth wall and ask your audience to pick the most dramatic or “dominance-asserting” move you can pull to save the argument.

What do I know (Just a Girl)

Nora Fatehi recently teamed up with Jamaican artist Shenseea for their global debut track What Do I Know (Just A Girl). The moment the song dropped, social media lit up with reactions and dance videos. Fans across the internet couldn’t get enough of the energy, and the collaboration quickly turned into a viral moment.

Giddy up!

Just the right trend for a trio of friends who are always ready to do something fun, silly and absolutely out of the box. Get your gang of three to try the viral “horse formation” trend. It’s goofy, it’s fun and it will definitely embarrass you if you don’t pull it off right.

Grad photos and all the conversations they’ve started

We saw women posting their graduation photos on social media. But while the girlies are out here celebrating milestones and posting their best moments, a very different corner of the internet seems… bothered. A handful of incel-leaning accounts have responded with long-winded “analyses,” attempting to dissect these photos but they are only managing to prove they’ve probably never interacted with a woman in real life. The contrast has turned the trend into a mini case study on how harmless joy can trigger unnecessary commentary online. And once again, it’s starting conversations about how women’s celebrations somehow become debate material on the internet.
