D'Evil asks the world ‘Nachne ka paisa lega kya?’ as he collaborated with Triller for Dance Ke Deewane. In our recent chat with the rapper, he talks about this along with his music.

“It is very important for you to feel what you are saying first.” Indian rapper Dhaval Parab aka D’Evil, is known for his songs that are notorious in a way that speaks the truth about society at large. From growing up in the chawls of Mumbai, getting inspired by the city, and talking about everything he learned as a way of giving back, D’Evil has contributed to changing the rap culture in India.

Now a member of Gully Gang, Dhaval was previously known as Hustler while he was a part of the ethnic rap group called Munky Rhymz. Since then, Dhaval has become an important part of India's underground rap culture producing music that speaks to the masses. Collaborating with artists and creating feet tapping music, D'Evil has been able to add a part of him and the city that made him in his songs.

The artist recently partnered with Triller for their latest dance IP "Dance Ke Deewane.” The campaign asked all the dancers to join and upload their videos on Triller, to win the chance to meet the rapper himself. We had a chat with the artist to know more about this collaboration, his music, and more.

Here are some experts from D'Evil's interview!

When and how did you decide on changing your name from Hustler to D'Evil?

Actually abhi me sochta hu toh lagta hai ki 'Hustler' naam rakhna chahiye tha. Kyuki Hustler kafi easy hai bolne ke liye. But jab me uss naam ko register karne ki khoshish kar raha tha toh Hustler naam se ek adult magazine bhi aati hai. Tab me socha ki kuch issa naam rakhu jo koi soch nahi sakta jyada rakhne ka. Toh one of my friend's sister, Aranya Johar, who is very popular right now for her poems, she suggested ki D'Evil karke word hai which goes very well with your personality. It means very notorious like a demon.

Have the 90s artists inspired your style of writing?

Mera style actually kafi inspired tha because I would sound like them. Kya hota hai na jab aap kisise inspire hote ho toh aap kafi cheeze unki tarah karne lagte ho. Then dheere dheere isse hota hai aapki career me jab aap aage badte ho, tab aapko samjme aata hai aapka asli style kya hai. And hiphop is all about that, it is about self-study. That you study yourself and then you go and express yourself. You know it's very important for you to feel what you're saying.

What are your thoughts on these short video platforms like Triller becoming popular?

I have collaborated with content creators and I for my next video too I have another creator who will be part of it. And I totally support them and their work. So I think it is really good wave that they are entertaining people.

Tell us a bit about Dance Ke Deewane and your part in it.

So basically with Dance Ke Deewane we are encouraging people to go all out on Triller and to show your dancing skills. And we would really love to meet such people. Jo log Triller pe jake they are making content. We thought that we can have a meet and greet but let's encourage people to dance first. I feel like people who are passionate about dancing should not stop. Agar aap ache ho bure ho, doesnot matter. Triller jaise platform pe kya hota hai ki you never know when and where you might find good talent. That is the reason why I was associated with a Triller and we have, we are promoting this particular campaign.
