Now a days, social media platforms have completely lost their essence. We use social media to interact with people worldwide, seamlessly. But these very interactions turned into trolling. And its new victim was Divyanka Tripathi, lead actress of the popular TV show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein.
She posted her new Haryanavi look from her upcoming TV serial on Instagram but soon after, a follower made a racist comment.

For her new look she was called disgusting and pathetic as Divyanka had to apply make-up for darker skin color to suit the roll.
The comment was ,"That's pathetic of you to do a black face for a new tv serial. Being dark is not a bad thing and this is really disgusting of you to do."
Divyanka decided to take matters into her own hand and replied saying,"If I chose to be dark... How's it pathetic? Do you find it pathetic? You guys don't even think before bashing! Which Indian actress will voluntarily choose to dark on screen? It's not usual !!"

According to India TV the person also said that "Black facing yourself for the sake of a TV serial track is pathetic. You didn’t lighten your makeup when you were pretending to be a foreigner in the serial. Why did you darken yourself to become a maid? Exactly. Double standards."
To which Divyanka replied, "Know me first before judging! I'm doing that make up myself! Everyday! So please...Watch the track, understand and respect instead of writing baseless provocative comments!"

Although, I don’t @divyankatripathidahiya gave it as much thought as you are...She probably did it in good faith to represent a darker complexion on tv. But yes, displaying herself darker to be a maid just adds to the negative bias that people already have about darker skin complexion, and being an African, I absolutely understand where you’re coming from ?
