An Indian Air Force officer and former Helicopter Pilot, Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena joined the IAF in 1994, is a 1999 Kargil War veteran. She is also the first woman to be awarded the Shaurya Chakra. The latest Netflix release, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is inspired by her incredible life.
Starring Janhvi Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi (Gunjan's father), Ayesha Raza (Gunjan's mother) andAngad Bedi (as her brother). The movie is directed by Sharan Sharma and produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Johar and Apoorva Mehta.
The movie revolves around Gunjan Saxena's struggles and women empowerment in the field of Indian Air Force. Gunjan has to go through various battles and struggles even before entering the actual warzone. Her father plays an extremely important role in motivating her throughout, while her brother keeps pointing out how unfit she is to be in the forces. How she overcomes all hurdles and does everything in her power to defend her country is truly humbling and an inspiration to many.

#GunjanSaxena is an endearing tale of a woman who just wants to be accepted for her calibre and not her gender. And @TripathiiPankaj, may all fathers be like you. Your role of Anup Saxena reminded me of my dad who always pushed me to be the best version of myself.
The real #GunjanSaxena must come out and clarify whether the gender discrimination shown in movie is for real? Being from Army background I can never imagine defence officers behaving like goons. Officer or not, women are always get their due respect in forces.
Pankajji is a master craftsman.Also @vineetkumar_s Many criticisms have been made but plp should judge for themselves and the subject #GunjanSaxena is a true Hero.Plp should know her story.
There is a lot of negative attention also that that movie is garnering courtesy of the online rage against nepotism and the IAF's objection over its negative portrayal in some scenes. However, while a section of the audience may have boycotted the film, many of those who have watched it seem to share positive reactions about the same.
