House of the Dragon starring Matt Smith released it's first episode on Disney+Hotstar and there has been an outpour of reviews for the show!
House of the Dragon which released its first episode this Monday, brought back a rush of Game of Thrones nostalgia for all the fans. Even though the last season of the show was not very well received in 2019, the hit HBO series still holds a lot of significance when it comes to setting benchmarks in good storytelling, cinematography, background music, and acting. Carrying forward this tradition, House of the Dragon, also feels like it has great potential and a story that'll keep as hooked as its ancestral show. Based on the novels, A Song of Ice and Fire written by George R. R. Martin, the story is based on the part, Fire & Blood which portrays the beginning of the end of House Targaryen. The series is set about 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. The events shown in the series cover the Targaryen war of succession, also known as 'Dance of the Dragons'.
Directed by Miguel Sapochnik, the first episode begins with King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine) being chosen as the heir to his grandfather, Jaehaerys I Targaryen as he is his only male heir. We fast forward ten years into his reign and see that he too, just like is grandfather, longs for a male heir who can be his successor someday, but even after five difficult pregnancies, the only surviving child that the king and his Queen Aemma Arryn (Sian Brooke) have is Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock), a fierce girl who loves her dragons and desires to serve as queen someday, only if her father looked beyond gender. After really gruesome childbirth that leads to her mother's and the King's only male heir's death, the King has no choice but to turn to his only living kin to take over the Iron Throne someday. But she has another contender for the throne, her uncle, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), who is violent, merciless to his people, and has no remorse. Who really will end up on the Iron Throne out of the two is what we'll get to see in future episodes.

Just like Game of Thrones had heated debates amongst fans, its prequel too has ignited the same excitement and opinions amongst the audience!
House of the Dragon Episode 1 was a damn good start. I'm a sucker for a competently written succession war in which both sides think they are absolutely in the right and will do whatever it takes to win.

Matt Smith as Daemon was the highlight. I'm sold and can't wait for Ep 2. pic.twitter.com/pLpf0cf7Ee
The color pallet for House of the Dragon is what GoT was missing since the beginning. It's not gray or dirty. Everything looks clean and beautiful. Just how imagined the world of ASOIAF to look.#HouseoftheDragon pic.twitter.com/t5HJ4zKzuh

"The idea that we control the dragons is an illusion. They're a power man should never have trifled with. One that brought Valyria its doom. If we don't mind our own histories, it will do the same to us."

Friendly reminder to all House of the Dragon watchers that it is also written by George and all your favourite characters can die no matter how central to the story they may seem

The best thing that has happened this year fr.
The stand out performance in episode 1 in my opinion came from Paddy Considine as King Viserys, he captivated every scene he was in, and put on an absolute acting masterclass, he’s definitely going for an Emmy. #HouseOfTheDragon pic.twitter.com/u1FcvGZtNk

I had a REAL hard time watching the birth scene in House of the Dragon last night. I had to turn my head, I won't lie. Not that it showed much but the implication and idea just struck a nerve.

Milly Alcock as young Rhaenyra is my favorite thing so far in House of the Dragon, she has been amazing.

House of the Dragon premiered last night. I won ruin for those who haven’t seen it yet, but I believe one of the scenes was the most painfully graphic , realistic, horrifying things I’ve ever seen at work or anywhere.

Was it just me?
House of the Dragon was a solid reminder that Game of Thrones was great at its peak. The performances are top notch, and the thing looks like a million dollars. Loved Matt Smith in this. pic.twitter.com/ot2u51JC0X
