The 'human challenge' trials program soon to start in the UK as doctors set to test their vaccines on volunteers. Healthy volunteers will be deliberately injected with the virus to conduct the tests.

The United Kingdom to be one of the other countries to begin testing its vaccines for COVID. In their Human challenge trials program, doctors will be testing their vaccines on volunteers who will be deliberately infected with the virus. The studies that are expected to begin in January at a secure quarantine facility in east London. Other details of the UK government-funded studies will be announced in the following weeks.

The challenge studies in the UK has about 2,000 potential volunteers signed up. These trials will be very crucial in narrowing the large field of promising Covid-19 vaccines likely to move into clinical testing early next year. Volunteers will be treated with a vaccine and a month or so later receive a dose of Sars-Cov-2 under controlled conditions. Sars-Cov-2 is a virus that causes Covid-19.
