Kicking some butt and breaking stereotypes, these iconic female characters are making us fall in love with cinema all over again.
When we claim that the female characters have evolved over time we mean it. From female characters only being apart because the male character wanted someone to fall in love to having stories written for female protagonists, we have come a long way. Although we love Poo, we admire and need more of Naina and Shivani on-screen. Indian cinema is slowing redefining the meaning of ‘hero’ and focusing on making an impact with stronger and meaningful female characters. There are many ways of delivering a story and we have slowly but thankfully learnt that it doesn’t always have to be from a man’s POV. And the female actors are doing a fabulous job of proving just how interesting stories can be from a different perspective too. We have listed some of such impactful and iconic female characters of Indian cinema from 2019.
