Nobel Prize 2019 was awarded to 14 brilliant minds who made a notable contribution, including one Indian, in 2019. We have listed down all the winners.

The Nobel Prize is considered to be one of the most renowned awards in the field of Chemistry, Literature, Peace, Physics, and Physiology or Medicine. The award named after the notable Swedish chemist, engineer and industrialist Alfred Nobel, was established in 1895. Like every year before, the contributions of some of the most brilliant minds in the world were awarded the Nobel Prize. Among them was Abhijit Banerjee who received the laurel for his contribution in the field of economics. Besides him, 13 other scholars were also part of the Nobel Prize 2019 winners list.

Abhijit Banerjee who belongs from Calcutta is a Harvard graduate where he got his PhD in 1988. He is the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and shares the Nobel Prize 2019 with his wife French-American economist Esther Duflo. Esther was born in Paris and is the professor of Poverty Alleviation and Development Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is also the co-founder and co-director of Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab.

The research that won the Nobel Prize 2019 was focused on how the problem of poverty can be tackled. They tried breaking the problem down into smaller parts and focusing on finding precise questions on aspects like healthcare and education. Economics is the last set of awards to be announced at Nobel Prize 2019.
