Epiphanies and reality checks have a tendency to stun us when we least expect them to, and Twitter user James Morales too wasn’t prepared for the heart wrenching piece of advice he received yesterday.

Working as a part time tech guy at a pharmacy, James Morales definitely wasn’t prepared to hear what he did when one of their regular senior customers Mr. Smith, who usually dropped by with his wife, Mrs. Smith, to pick up their medication, arrived alone.

Here’s how James tweeted the whole incident, something he describes as ‘the saddest experience of his life’, something he ‘HAD to share.’

Once again, I reiterate, James Morales could not have given a thought to the possibility of hearing what he did, and when he told the senior gentleman that he had the medication for him and his wife ready, Mr. Smith’s reply stunned the entire store.

The sudden rush of emotions was too much for each person at the store, the customers and the employees alike. James, as any human being with feelings would, felt overwhelmed with sadness upon hearing the news and watching Mr. Smith cry.

Mr. Smith’s words unlocked a vault of feelings and tears that I myself am having trouble dealing with right now, at this very moment. Had I been there, I too would have burst into tears and his exemplary courage even after losing the love of his life, and his best friend.

It is a startling reminder to all of us, as we know, we are not a generation used to expressing our love and feelings, and devoid of much emotional connections with our friends and family except for a few scattered drunk or lonely nights where we say what we feel. It is a reminder for us to say it more often, because we never know which conversation might end up being our last.

“Make sure to tell the ones you love how much they mean to you, before you don’t have the chance to anymore.”

It could not have been more perfectly summarized.

Twitter users were moved to the point of tears as I am, and could not control themselves after reading about the incident.

The replies were exactly as you would expect them to be.

If you aren’t home, call your loved ones. Make a call; drop a text; leave your room; see your friends; make memories while you can, we won’t be here forever.
