With each performance, Janhvi Kapoor has only improved more and more as an actor to rise above the tag of a ‘nepo kid’. Here’s a breakdown of her career trajectory along with her amazing fashion choices that often make her the talk of tinsel town!
When Janhvi Kapoor entered the industry there were many preconceived notions about her because of her fabled last name. She does come from a film background but the shadow of her iconic mother loomed so large on her head that she knew nobody, including her, could ever match up to the legend, Sridevi. So she always was on her own separate path, ever since her first film Dhadak. It was a Hindi remake of the blockbuster film Sairat but she played the role of Parthavi with her own fresh perspective. She mentioned in an interview that she wanted to be an actor ever since she can remember and you can see that in her eyes when she is on-screen embodying different roles. The tag of a star-kid will always loom above her head but she has been proving her worth to everyone with her choice films and a good eye for scripts lately.

Gunjan Saxena, a biopic of a brave Indian Air Force officer and the first woman to fly in combat was portrayed with such conviction by her. Then comes Good Luck Jerry, the story of a girl who had to mature too quickly in order to save her dying mother’s life and provide for her family. Or her recent impactful performance in Mili, a story of survival of a resilient young girl who unfortunately gets stuck in a meat freezer all night and tries her best to stay alive. As one can clearly see through her filmography, most of her movies are women-centric and have strong female characters who carry the whole film on their shoulders and keep you just as hooked as any quintessential Bollywood movie usually would.
She’s also tried her hand at horror and comedy with Roohi and Ghost Stories. While these are not some of her popular works, it still does show that she is ready to experiment in genres that are not easy to ace and push herself constantly as an actor. Her upcoming projects too are so versatile. She will next be seen in action drama Bawaal and then Mr and Mrs Mahi, a film where she plays a cricketer. In such a short span in the industry, where she is still considered as the ‘younger lot’ she has already played various different roles and entertained the audience.
Apart from her love for movies, her love for fashion too is often seen when she so gracefully and beautifully adorns couture pieces by famous fashion designers. Ever since her foray into the industry, she has made heads turn with her sartorial choices. From gorgeous sarees, fabulous lehengas that make her look like a royal princess or sexy bodycon dresses, she aces the glam game with her jaw dropping looks at the red carpet and also in her day to day life. The best way to describe her style would be a fusion of modern day glitz and vintage appeal. As a result she constantly tries out varied styles, colors schemes and motifs.
