Imtiaz Ali's Amar Singh Chamkila, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, is a musical biopic on Netflix that the Janta is devouring for its music, story, direction, commentary and of course, the incredible Diljit Dosanjh!
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Amar Singh Chamkila talks about Chamkila, the rebellious Dalit singer who rose to fame in the 80s for his controversial music layered with sexual references and was mysteriously shot dead for the same at 27 years of age. He was called the Elvis Presley of Punjab whose name got added to the infamous 'Club 27'- an informal list consisting primarily of exceptionally talented musicians like Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, and more, all of whom died at 27. The film stars Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the lead, who have also lent their voice to the film!
Released last Friday on Netflix, the film is getting rave reviews from all over, especially from the Janta, who absolutely loved Diljit Dosanjh and his incredible work as an actor. While many call this Imtiaz Ali's comeback and see the parallels between this and his previous work in Tamasha and Rockstar, the film's music is also receiving a lot of love.
