The much-anticipated period drama ‘Chhaava’ Starring Vicky Kaushal was released over the weekend, and here's what the Janta had to say about the film!

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is a heartfelt biopic about Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Vicky Kaushal plays the titular character and, by the looks of it, brings his A-game to the table for a king who is still loved by so many! The film is based on Shivaji Sawant's Marathi novel of the same name. Produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, 'Chhaava' also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai, Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Senapati Hambirao Mohite, and Diana Penty as Aurangzeb’s daughter, Zinat-un-Nissa Begum. The film chronicles Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj's courageous journey as he confronts numerous challenges and ultimately sacrifices himself in his fight against the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

According to the Janta, 'Chhaava' is a film that is carried by Vicky Kaushal's powerful performance as a warrior from the first scene to the last. He embodies the character with conviction, and to add to it, the production and costume design effectively transport the audience to the historical period. Akshaye Khanna also aces Aurangzeb's character, and the audiences love his comeback on-screen. The audiences also felt the action sequences were well-executed and drove the film forward. Having said that, some also believe that the film suffers from a weak and rushed storyline. Many viewers felt the narrative lacked depth, focusing too heavily on action at the expense of character development and emotional resonance. A common complaint is the music and background score by A.R. Rahman, which many found disappointing and ill-suited to the film's tone, hindering the emotional connection with the story.  While the film aims for historical accuracy, some cinematic liberties are also taken.
