Aamir Khan Productions and Vir Das’ directorialHappy Patel Khatarnak Jassos receives love from the janta, along with a few cautionary words of advice.
Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jassos, marking Vir Das’ directorial debut, was released in theatres recently. Taking on the dual mantle of writer and director, Vir also stars in the film as Happy Patel, a London-bred NRI who returns to India as a spy on a covert mission. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Goa, the film blends sharp humour with cultural commentary, delivering a comedic satirical ride that doesn’t restrains itself from anything. The ensemble cast includes Mona Singh, Mithila Palkar, and Sharib Hashmi alongside Vir Das while the special cameos by Sumukhi Suresh, Kunal Roy Kapur, Meiyang Chang, Sanjeev Kapoor, and Aamir Khan, who also serves as the film’s producer, along with the return of Imran Khan, adds more fun to the mix. But here is what the Janta is saying about the film.

Comedy is inherently subjective, and nothing proves this better than the janta’s reactions to Happy Patel. While many people found the film laugh-out-loud funny, claiming their jaws hurt from laughing so hard, others couldn’t quite connect with it, with a few even walking out during the interval. Some compared it to The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, while others highlighted its flaws, ultimately agreeing that it’s simply not everyone’s cup of tea.
Here's what they are saying!
Just came back after watching Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos with my sister and her husband and we all loved it. My sis's jaw was actually hurting because she laughed a lot. We had not seen such a genuinely good comedy in a long time in theatres. Thank you @thevirdas 🙌🍿 pic.twitter.com/1dIXDMWfE2

man i haven't laughed like this in a while. there's like 1 joke per second & almost all of them hit for me. it's a love-hate letter to everything that makes india, india. and that final fight is chef's kiss. pic.twitter.com/yezZOZoBUe
Happy Patel is hilarious, whack & full entertainment

Thank you @thevirdas & love @sharibhashmi who's always focused on the food, just like in Family Man
The man who was villainised for saying he comes from 2 Indias, has made a film which says-Main Hindustani Hoon,Im just like you pic.twitter.com/ZsrYAAlgsq

Please go and watch the movie “Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos.” It is SUPER AMAZING! You will seriously enjoy this parody movie if you liked watching “Ba***da of Bollywood.” pic.twitter.com/Blz3UJx74i

Just finished Happy Patel 😅 Didn’t expect them to pull off a comedy with such absurd humor. I liked the jokes in it.

Not sure how it will fare with the mainstream audience as the humor is subjective…but I feel it’s definitely better than the same template Bollywood comedies… pic.twitter.com/CygGT7DHQB
Had so much fun with #HappyPatel! Irreverent, crude, surprisingly romantic, with the kind of humour that's been missing from our movies lately. @thevirdas nails it on many levels, but as Happy, he pulls off the impossible: haggling & winning a bargain with a Goa taxi driver 😄

happy Patel is unabashed, unapologetic and frankly not everyone’s cup of tea but I love that the humour is fresh for once, rare W for Hindi cinema

#HappyPatel omg what a pathetic movie. Poor script, bad dialogs and everything poor. Why @amirkingkhan made this movie? Such a boring movie going back home in the intervals 😵💫 pic.twitter.com/kToVddierI

#HappyPatel Piggybacked on Delhi Belly, but humour has no resemblance.

Unfunny like Humshakals—trying to be India’s Naked Gun.
Feels like a YT sketch first draft.
Ppl pretend to praise it or else you will look like you oppose his standup content for some reason. pic.twitter.com/PdLMrFEayI
