Loveyapa was released on the big screen this weekend, and here’s what the Janta had to say about the phone-swapping rom-com!
Directed by Advait Chandan, Loveyapa is the Hindi remake of the Tamil film ‘Love Today.’. The film features Khushi Kapoor as Baani and Junaid Khan as Gaurav in the leads for the Hindi version and marks their big-screen debut. The story revolves around the relationship of Baani and Gaurav, who struggle with the complexity of maintaining a truthful relationship in the Gen Z era. The plot thickens when they have to meet the families to discuss getting married and to test the foundation of their relationship Baani’s father made them swap phones for a day, and the revelations of the hidden personal truths leads to unexpected turns. The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Grusha Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Tanvika Parlikar, and Kiku Sharda.
The film seems to be generating mixed reactions among the netizens ever since its release. Given the whole debacle on the movie's promotions, there wasn't much the viewers were expecting. But much to their surprise, there were a section of people who found the film to rather entertaining! Having said that, there were also polar opposite reactions where people felt the film lacked convition and failed to connect to them on a meaningful level. Some are comparing Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan to their previous works while some felt the comic timing in the film worked really well for them. Well, there seems to be a clear divide in the opinions for the film!

Loveyapa (2025): Total Failure

A shallow, senseless film which takes you nowhere. Such anticipations & faith being deposited to the star cast (kids of Stalwarts) with zero execution. It’s like laying a bland script for them to carry on their celebrity status.💔#loveyapa pic.twitter.com/LjBJjuJWET

#Loveyapa was pretty cute and funny. I don’t know what Satyajit Ray masterpiece people are expecting from a romcom but this was an entertaining couple of hours at the cinema with a very fresh pair

Khushi Kapoor's performance in Loveyapa is so much better than in Archies, girl has done well, the emotional parts really feel authentic! ❤️ #loveyapareview pic.twitter.com/M5PstU5Thb
