Mickey 17 starring Robert Pattinson and Mark Ruffalo released on big screens on March 7. Here's what the fans had to say about the highly anticipated film!
'Mickey 17,' directed by the acclaimed Bong Joon-ho, is a sci-fi/ dark comedy based on Edward Ashton's novel 'Mickey7.' This film takes viewers to a future where humanity attempts to colonize the icy planet Niflheim. Robert Pattinson plays the titular Mickey, an "expendable" whose role is to undertake dangerous missions, with the understanding that he'll be cloned and his memories restored upon death. The stellar cast includes Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo, each contributing to the complex dynamics of the space colony. The core plot revolves around Mickey's repeated deaths and regenerations, and the existential dilemmas that arise when Mickey 17 discovers his replacement, Mickey 18.
'Mickey 17' is a polarizing film. Robert Pattinson's performance is widely praised, particularly his portrayal of multiple Mickeys and his chemistry with Naomi Ackie. However, beyond his performance and visuals, the film disappoints. Many find it flat and unengaging, The supporting cast, particularly Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette, are criticized for overacting.The plot is another point of contention, with some finding it disjointed and underdeveloped, juggling multiple threads that never fully coalesce. Accused of being preachy and failing to deliver on humor or action, 'Mickey 17,' despite Pattinson's excellence, is largely seen as a messy experience.

I’m not exaggerating when I state that #Mickey17 is one of the 17 worst films I’ve seen. Absolutely nothing works. Every scene is flat. There’s no energy. Horrendously unfunny. Career lows for Ruffalo and Collette. You don’t care about anyone or anything going on. Stunning. pic.twitter.com/NbVVKSePsA

Watched Mickey 17. Bad. It's got three plot threads running together, and all three of them are half-baked, undercooked, raw and wriggling. It neither delivers properly on the humor, the action, or the message. Becomes irritatingly preachy towards the end. 1/5. Not recommended. pic.twitter.com/ruHDO9asxs

MICKEY 17 has the dubious honour of being simultaneously overlong and underdeveloped. Most of the performances are incredibly irritating and the thin attempts at satire — particularly the Trump stuff — are embarrassingly surface level. Shouts a lot but says nothing of substance. pic.twitter.com/LVCtcDUZgP

Sad to report MICKEY 17 is a bit of a mess, never amounting to much more than a series of zany politically charged sketches Bong better satirized in the past. Lotta voices. Pattinson great, Ruffalo bad. OKJA on steroids. It's kind of a romantic comedy? I wanted to love this. pic.twitter.com/fXzvY2wQGO

Bong Joon-ho doesn't miss. Robert Pattinson effortlessly embodied all the different Mickeys. His chemistry with Naomi was so natural. What a fun one. I loved the themes and the execution. I am standing by my five star rating.

Mickey17 really frustrating. Enjoyed it at first but it’s somehow so poorly paced I felt exhausted with it. Lotta things going on it felt like it was gliding from scene to scene while wearing weights.

Mickey 17 is promising for first 45 mins then becomes a stinking hot mess that clearly was salvaged / re-edited by studio multiple times. Becomes Starship Troopers without the wit. Ruffalo is godawful and the film looks visually dull;

#Mickey17 is certainly very fun, and Pattinson and Ackie are fantastic. However, I wish the writing was a little stronger, with it covering too many themes and plots, and it just felt a little surface level. It's entertaining, yes, but I was expecting stronger writing. 7.5/10 pic.twitter.com/BLvKYr3CfF

#Mickey17 was disappointing. There is a lot of talent on display but the story and themes are trying to cover way too much and it really doesn’t come together nearly as well as it could have. What could have been best of the year material turned out just ok

Beneath its many themes, #Mickey17 is also about finding love for your whole self. We watch a man learn to embrace his edgier self and show love for his meeker side. pic.twitter.com/xEkLAOUlUy

#Mickey17 is an entertaining sci-fi blockbuster that takes time to develop character and character motivation at every turn. Not to mention that it looks gorgeous while doing it. Robert Pattinson is fantastic, while Naomi Ackie is almost better. Director Bong’s still got it! pic.twitter.com/YYLbIfH9yE
