Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie might not be hailed as peak cinema by either genius, yet the Janta loved watching superstar Rajni back in form!
Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie is as much a signature mass commercial film of his as it is a tribute to superstar Rajinikanth, marking 50 years of his cinematic journey. As his 171st film, this grand spectacle that also stars actors like Shruti Haasan, Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Aamir Khan, and others has already created a huge buzz at the box office, with theatres across states erupting in jubilation at seeing the Thalaivar back in action. Yet, at two hours and fifty-nine minutes, the film hasn’t impressed everyone.
TheJanta seems split as while many enjoy watching the 74-year-old actor slip into his action-hero avatar in a revenge saga, especially with the much-talked-about de-aging effects that bring back flashbacks of a young Rajinikanth that others are finding flaws in. The cluttered narrative, weighed down by too many story detours, often loses focus, not making this Kanagaraj’s finest works, especially given the high expectations from his fans. The film has sparked many memes too! Nevertheless, Rajinikanth loyalists are celebrating, and enjoying the film as it brings their God of cinema back to the big screen once more!

So he corrected his mistake in #Coolie and made sure only the flashback portion was good pic.twitter.com/twO1IXnXJx
Yes, Coolie has its loopholes… but many of the things people are trolling about actually have answers within the film itself…

#Coolie - The best thing I did was watching Thailaivar movie with less expectation on second day. This movie gave me the same feel when I watched Thalaivar movie Annamalai first time on big screen. That swag still remains the same even at this age of 74. Similarly, became a huge… pic.twitter.com/IBYSdXhyxu

Lot of constructive things about #LokeshKanagaraj but he can be proud about what he has acheived with this. As a smart guy, he should have played it to the gallery by extending the flashback for 30 mins. Fans would have had a blast. #Coolie. pic.twitter.com/J1jORqZ4tQ
