Stranger Things 5 Vol 2

Here’s a spoiler-filled discussion on everything Stranger Things after the release of Volume 2’s three episodes, which sent the internet into a frenzy dissecting every little detail!

Since the end of November, we’ve all been deeply invested in what’s unfolding in Hawkins and the Upside Down. Every new volume released from Stranger Things’ final season sends the internet into a frenzy, dissecting every frame and spinning fresh fan theories. After Volume 1 left the janta spiralling, especially with the discovery of Will’s powers, Volume 2 was highly anticipated, largely because it promised answers to the many questions it raised.

While Volume 2 does address several of those wild theories, it also ended up disappointing a section of the audience. Part of that disappointment likely stems from sky-high expectations that brought way many theories beyond what the makers had planned, considering this is the end of a decade-long show. However, as the Duffer Brothers clarified, Stranger Things5 was never meant to deliver a GoT stylized “Red Wedding” moment. There may be shocks and surprises, but this show plays by a different emotional rulebook and Volume 2 proves that.

If Volume 1 was about venturing out to uncover more pieces of the puzzle, Volume 2 is about coming together, joining those dots, and preparing for the final battle. As the last crawl before the endgame, it focuses on clearing emotional space rather than escalating spectacle. This is why the volume leans heavily into character moments: Will coming out to everyone, Max and Lucas sharing an emotional confession after she escapes Vecna’s mind, Steve and Dustin finding their way back to each other, and Nancy and Jonathan’s quiet, mutual breakup.

It’s no surprise, then, that the janta can’t stop sharing their favourite moments from the volume even if some feel that Eleven, Mike, and a few others seemed a little lost this season. Volume 2 may not be explosive, but it is deeply intentional, choosing emotional closure over constant escalation.

Here is what they are saying!

As many have pointed out, there are several intricate details from the last four seasons that still haven’t been fully tied together so far. This could partly be because Stranger Things was never originally designed to run for five seasons. That hasn’t stopped the janta, however, from obsessively combing through every detail provided so far and building fresh fan theories.

While we did get some answers such as the Upside Down not being the “other side” but another dimension altogether, a kind of wormhole that connects to the world called the Abyss where Vecna and the Mind Flayer exist and some clarity around what November 6th truly signifies, or how Eleven, Kali, and Will might fit into the larger equation, these explanations have only sparked more questions.

Fans are now drawing connections between Will and Henry’s identical posture, Will’s confession involving memories that weren’t his to begin with, and the possibility that he may still be possessed. Others believe this could all be part of Vecna’s larger game, with us merely trapped inside it, that Henry himself may still be Mind Flayed, much like Billy once was, acting as a vessel for Vecna. And that’s just scratching the surface of the theories currently flooding the internet.

Take a look!

No matter how right or wrong we are in this guessing game, there’s no denying that the fans’ reactions are proof of pure love for the show. More importantly, it reminds us why we need stories like this now more than ever - stories where a bunch of kids grow up right in front of our eyes, trying to save the world, yes, but also saving us from our own cynical minds. After all, how often do you see fan theories where the villain isn’t just evil, but constantly examined as someone whose mind was corrupted, whose trauma shaped him? (Voldemort and Tom Marvolo Riddle, anyone?).

Hence, for me, Stranger Things is proof of the power of storytelling and the magic it can bring into the world. Whether you are reminded of Alice in Wonderland, ET or Harry Potter, I'm reminded of my childhood days, when growing up with such stories meant finding hope and meaning in the otherwise crazy world - where friendship was the most valuable thing of all, being human first preceded over wars and even the darkest side carried a hint of goodness!
