Jwala Gutta is an Indian professional badminton player who has made the country proud on several occasions. Today, as she celebrates her 37th birthday, here’s looking at all of Jwala Gutta’s achievements that made the nation proud.

She was born on 7th September 1983 and began representing India in Badminton in the later years of the 1990s. She is immensely talented and just as hardworking and Jwala Gutta’s achievements are a testament to that. She brought pride and glory to India by representing our nations at international events in both mixed and women’s doubles categories. Along with the medals, she also won over the hearts of sports enthusiasts in the country and around the globe.

Jwala Gutta’s achievements in Badminton pertain to a total of 316 match wins in mixed and women’s doubles categories earning her the 6th spot in the world rankings. It is the most to be won by any Indian sports personality so far. In fact, the sports champion has won medals at all major international badminton tournaments and multi-sport events, except for the Olympics.

 Some of the most recent of her impressive long list of glorious wins include South Asian Games 2016 where she won the Gold in a Women’s doubles with Aswini Ponappa. The duo also won the Canada Open Women’s doubles at the BWF Grand Prix 2010. Owing to her wins and unmatched performance, she was also presented with the Arjuna Award which is India’s second-highest sporting award.
