Steamy K-dramas

K-dramas have found a good balance between the old school essence while also striking a good balance with modern day storytelling and here’s our list of K-dramas that are romantic but intimate too!

K-dramas are popular for many things but not for their skinship or intimate scenes at all. There’s a reason why they remind us of the earlier times when the max close a lead pair would get was an awkward peck on the lips. That’s how it’s always been for years now. Their way of showing the leads have had sex is when one of them says the unsaid code for hooking up which is ‘Do you wanna eat Ramyeon?’ and then it’s just understood what’s going to happen next. But in the recent few K-dramas, we have seen some really well done steamy scenes that had our jaws on the floor.

Love and Leashes was probably one of the first K-dramas to openly explore sex, and also give a fun twist to the BDSM concept. And since it gained popularity, K-drama directors have been more optimistic in going beyond the usual hand holding and forehead kisses like the 8th episode! We love a good old school romance and that’s exactly why we love K-dramas but sometimes turning the heat up on-screen is exactly what the story needs!

It also helps remove the stigma around the conversation of having sex before marriage, to be able to understand what you like and what you don't like and so much more! These conversations also help one grow with the times and show all kinds of stories on primetime Korean television.

Here are K-dramas that helped break this stereotype!

Nevertheless

Nevertheless had the main leads Song Kang and Han So-Hee making out from the first episode to the last. One could cut the sexual tension between them with a knife. It was quite unusual to see lead actors at the peak of their careers to agree for a story like this when stories that have a lot of intimacy in Korea usually create controversy.

Business Proposal

The kissing scene between Kim Min-Gyu and Seol In-Ah remains rent free in our minds. The way he takes off his glasses and tells her ‘I’ll make sure you never forget this’ was absolute chef’s kiss!

My Demon

Song Kang makes it again to the list with My Demon. This one might not have as many intimate scenes as the rest of them but even just that one scene when the main leads realize they love each other and spend the night together is steamy and romantic at the same time.

The World of the Married

While it is one of the sexiest K-dramas, it’s also pretty heartbreaking as it deals with infidelity. But the scenes delivered by Park Hae-Joon and Han So-Hee explore the world of the married as the title suggests and the desires of forbidden lust.

What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim

Many were drawn to this drama just because of the make out scenes between Park Seo-Joon and Park Min-Young. Their chemistry was stellar and we love two hotties taking it up a notch with their romance.

Something in the Rain

The series explores the relationship between an older woman dating a guy younger than her. That in itself is a big no-no in so many cultures, adding sex on top of that was bold and we’re here for it!

Her Private Life

Another office romance with a twist of pleasure. The best part of it is keeping it all a secret which just adds to the thrill.

Love and Leashes

Love and Leashes was Korea’s 50 Shades of Gray. It explored the various layers of sex and the fun of having a no strings attached kinda relationship with someone.
