A student during weekdays and blogger by the weekend, Kavya Matia has a motivating tale to narrate about his food blog - Exploring Plates.

Kavya Matia opens up about his learnings and failures through his food blog Exploring Plates. Taking inspiration from acquaintances and giving a personal touch to his blog, Kavya has steered through the ups and downs passionately. His passion for food and blogging is real. Advising people to explore different cuisines and to expand one's horizon in that direction, Kavya stresses on how we must not run after likes and comments because they don’t justify the hard work we put in.

Food blogging is not easy and fancy as it seems. It takes years of hard work and dedication to reach the top. Taking one step at a time, Kavya is confident that his love and passion for food will take him to the top!

Here’s all the Exploring Plates has to share with us:

What made you start creating content and when did you begin?

"The college was starting soon and as a person who never had much exposure to the world, it was a cyclone. I met many people and one day had this idea of starting a page because I was eating out and thought it would be as simple as clicking pictures. At that time these things were barely concept for me. So, in the passion of food and simply eating food, I and my friend started this page but later he separated and started his own thing. A whole flood of things came in the way but learning through all, I am on my way to make it something (I guess). And talking about when I started creating, it was 14th of August of 2017. So, its been 2 long years of failures and learning."

What makes your content stand out?

"I would say that it is the personal touch. We take our inspiration from friends and acquaintances and at the end of the day, the personal aspect is what matters the most.

How do you choose what to promote on your feed and what not to?

"As per the promotion, the real taste of food is what we are behind and it is also what drags us forward. See, we are food bloggers and Instagrammers, so discovering and exploring new food joints and the new dishes is kind of a need. And apart from that I personally love eating and exploring."

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile?

"I cannot really quote any instances because these 2 years have taught me a lot. There were ups and downs and also met some amazingly inspiring people. But for the question’s sake, I would say buying myself a laptop is one.

What does a regular day look like?

"A regular day is like a regular college student. I am pursuing English Hons from Delhi University and just like that we attend classes and on off days we go for content hunting."

How do you make moolahs?

"It is basically brand promotions and collaborations. So, for influencing there is no fixed pay and you really have to hunt down sources. And for us, brand collabs are the main income source."

Where do you get ideas for your videos from?

"For videos, it is basically street food. For food, blogging is now a very common thing and many are doing it for free food and stuff. So, for making your content stand out you have to really explore places that are unknown to the general public."

Weirdest brief ever received?

"There was this mail from a reposting account, they wanted us to send them our clicked work without our watermark. For that, they would use it for their page and give us credits. It is like that sometimes. Crazy and stuff."

If not an influencer, what would you be?

"Just a regular student with boring English classes 5 days a week."

Message/tips for upcoming bloggers

"Just don’t come to the industry for free food. Only if you have a real passion for exploring and you want to expand your horizon in that direction. Also to not stress over likes and comments because they don’t justify your hard work."
