Check out our full conversation with Sukhamni Sakhi here...

1. What made you start creating content? And when did you start creating content?

"I have been creating content since about 3 years now. I have always been opinionated & expressive but back in the day there weren’t many platforms to express oneself but with the growing presence & significance of social media in our lives, that’s been made possible. There’s a legit channel for the flow of expression of every kind and that’s great."

  1. What makes your content stand out?

"My content reflects me 100% and that’s the beauty of genuine emotions. When you can scrape out what’s on your mind, to a digital space, it gives one an exclusive opportunity to showcase one’s moods, creativity, even failures and put it out there in the rawest yet relatable way."

  1. How do you choose what to promote on your feed and what not to?

"Well, I try to maintain authenticity and neutrality to an extent. I don’t advise diplomacy still yet, I try to promote more of what my followers show interest in and what I love to discuss. Quite often I just try to promote raw emotions in their entirety without bejewelling content unnecessarily."

  1. One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile?

"Back in the day, there were hobbies and there were professions. Both existed in separate domains but now they can overlap and very beautifully. When people tell me just how fortunate I am to be living my dream, it makes it all worthwhile. To be able to live your passion is a rare luxury and to have that privilege, makes me feel blessed and driven to make the most of it."

  1. What does a regular day look like?

"Ah! A regular day on the gram isn’t what it looks like in reality. Early mornings for shoots, a loaded face full of makeup at 6 am is no joke. Sometimes I can even barely open my eyes but my face is caked up (Well, for the pictures of course.)

There could be morning shoots or afternoon events that follow. Sometimes there are more than two brand events or endorsements in a day and it’s studded with constant smiles for the camera and looking that proper isn’t really normal for a full day! Trust me.

Evenings could be more events or sometimes spent on the laptop to edit content which does take hours, especially for a technologically handicapped person like myself. Editing videos and images is a hefty task.

Then there’s an hour for the gym and if I am lucky I can steal in an hour to see my friends and get back home in time. Before bed, I do a quick night routine, interact with my followers on Instagram and do a bit of mind mapping on what content to shoot the next day."

  1. How do you make moolahs?

"A pertinent question and one most widely asked, making money from digital content creation can be in several forms but broadly they can be summed under the following:

  • Brand Collaborations
  • Event Curation
  • F&B promotion

Brands reach out to suitable content creators as per their profiles and pay them in accordance with the quality of work and a mutually agreed amount for the content created that the brand benefits from."

  1. Where do you get ideas for your videos from?

"Literally my everyday life is full of real-time drama, my crazy lot of friends and almost everything around me. Inspiration is everywhere, you just have to pick out relatable instances from your daily life and share it with your followers".

8. Weirdest brief ever received?

"Come to our esteemed restaurant to dine where you will be offered 1 main course and 2 soft beverages. You will be approved to come in exchange for multiple Instagram stories and posts, Facebook posts, google review, Trip advisor review. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Also, there was once a brand that wanted me to showcase my feet in a provocative manner wearing their nail polish. That was super twisted. How is that even done?"

  1. If not an influencer, what would you be?

"Well, I’d be a writer cuz I cannot help my need to express. I could be a chef too, the love for food comes foremost!"

  1. Do you have a message or tips for upcoming bloggers?

"You do you, cuz everyone else is taken. Literally there’s no other tip, just follow your inner jazz and find your target audience who relates to you. Don’t follow numbers or compare yourself to anyone!"
