Life is about meeting people and finding ourselves intrigued by what they have to offer. It was not long ago that I was introduced to Jorge Luis Borges's famous line that goes “I am not sure that I exist, actually. I am all the writers that I have read, all the people that I have met, all the women that I have loved; all the cities I have visited.” It hit me hard because of how true it is. We are all mosaics of the people that we meet and learn from. Maybe that is exactly why most of our formative years are spent being guided by individuals who teach us the basics of what life will be for us as adults and help us find the answers to our ifs and whys.
Today, teachers are not just the ones we meet at school, they're also strangers we come across on Instagram who have something new to share. Understanding the potential that the platform offers, teachers are making an effort to be active on it and share their lives. This year we saw teachers not only giving us a new viewpoint of what life of a teacher looks like but also what it could be. The audience found them to be different from the teachers they remember, wishing and feeling great for the kids who get the chance to be guided by them. Watching them bond with their students, participate in activities, teach valuable lessons, and more has to the best highlight of this year.
