As football legend Lionel Messi celebrates his 33rd birthday, fans cannot stop admiring his motivating and inspiring tale that made him reach the top.

Lionel Messi signed up with Spain’s FC Barcelona at the age of 13 and since then the face of the game has changed. From signing first Barca contract on a napkin at a Barcelona restaurant to winning record 6 Ballon d’Or, FC Barcelona star made his Barcelona debut in 2003 at the age of 17.

Messi has won ten La Liga, four Champions League, six Copa del Ray, three Club World Cup and as many European Super Cup titles with Barcelona. At a young age, he was diagnosed with a potential career-threatening medical condition called Growth Hormone Disorder. However, after signing with Barcelona, they were generous enough to pay for his treatment and soon he overcame the illness like a pro.

As a humble human and a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador he also runs the Leo Messi Foundation that provides help to children in need. UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Lionel ‘Leo’ Messi said that children in Costa Rica should grow up in an environment free of violence and where they are encouraged to play sport.
