As India helds a general election that has already started from April 11 in the world’s largest democratic exercise, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a second straight term. This election will be conducted in seven phases until May 19 (Ongoing) and votes will be counted on May 23.

Candidates have to advertise your criminal records!

Politicians have to advertise their criminal records in Newspapers and through television channels.

The pictures of voters will be on EVM’s and Postal Ballot papers!

Election Commission has taken the decision to help voters identify who they are actually voting.

Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) will be used this time

VVPAT will be used for voters to verify that their votes are cast as intended. As you vote, you shall see a slip is printed on the VVPAT with the serial number, name, and symbol of the candidate you voted.

More than 900 million people are eligible to cast the vote this election!

80+ million new voters to cast their votes for the first time.

Young generation votes

More than 15 million voters between the age of 18 and 19 to cast their vote for the first time in this years election.

Approved identity cards can be carried to the Polling!

Voter slips will no longer be used as the stand-alone identification at elections. Other valid documents include passport, Aadhar card, driving license, PAN card, etc.
