Yashraj

Yashraj Mukhate is known for his viral meme music, but there’s so much more to him. In this article, we explore how his tracks are fun, relatable, and so much more!

Back in 2020, when the world was trying to stay creative and entertained during the lockdown, Yashraj Mukhate gave us the ultimate meme mashup of the year —“Rasode mein kaun tha?” Making a viral mashup of a soap opera scene that made everyone laugh cemented his place as the king of “meme music.” But while many know him for his quirky viral tracks, Yashraj’s work goes way beyond that.

Yes, we love Yashraj for turning random dialogues into funny earworms like “Pawri ho rahi hai” and “Such a boring day” But his original songs? They show a completely different side of him. His music isn’t just fun! It’s creative, experimental, and often a celebration of languages and cultures.

Take his Hockey Team India Anthem that was released during the Olympics or his track “How’s the Josh”, which continues to be a fan favorite, gives us goosebumps till date. His songs aren’t limited to one style or genre, and that’s what makes him special.

Yashraj’s music is relatable because it’s about things we experience in everyday life. I mean, who else would create a song about Rasmalai? It’s funny, it’s random, and somehow, it works.

From being known as the “music meme guy,” Yashraj has come a long way. He’s collaborated with some of the coolest people in the industry to release full-fledged music videos that are as creative as his earlier work. He has even tried rapping, and teaming up with well-known celebrities.

At the same time, he’s not afraid to experiment. He collaborated with Rekha Bhardwaj for an acapella version of Insaaf,” a song that talks about important issues in society. This shows that while Yashraj is known for his humor, he also uses his art to highlight and talk about meaningful issues.

Yashraj knows how to collaborate, and he does it brilliantly. His track “Uchhlingo Machhlingo” with Anumeha Bhaskar, that's a personal favourite is sweet, catchy, and creative at the same time. It's tracks like these that make us want to listen to more of what he has to share.

Happy Birthday, Yashraj! May you keep surprising us with your amazing music!
