#BingeRewind: 11 Hindi songs of 2023 that acted as ear-tastrophes

From cringe to chuckles, some Hindi songs in 2023 were truly disastrous for our ears. Here's a list of the top ten contenders!

Music - it’s one thing we can’t live without. On our happy as well as sad days, music remains our haven. Sit near a window and listen to music, main-character vibes are guaranteed. Lucky for people who live in India, every film is a musical, meaning every other day we get an album. However, jahan sukh hai waha dukh bhi hai. In the pool of Bollywood songs, gems and junk co-exist. For every “Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga, jaise khilta gulab” exists a “Bum tera gotay khaye, kamar pe teri butterfly.” Unfortunately, that’s just how it works! As we come to the end of 2023, let’s take a look back at all the weird songs that came our way!

Let’s Dance Chotu Motu

This list is in no way ranked, but if it was, this song would still be on the top. This song was a problem for my ears, eyes, and psyche and I demand compensation. An apology should be issued by the makers to the crew members and the writers of nursery rhymes. 

Naiyo Lagda

Salman Khan, with his abhorrent wig, went like, “Naiyo lagda dil tere bina" so let me do acrobatic exercises with ridiculous singing in the background to woo you. Logic and grace can wait. 

Hum Aaye Hain

Why would you put your chain in your mouth and inhale smoke that you exhaled minutes ago, Mr Shroff? Why? What sense does it make? This is such an unnecessary song in an unnecessary film. I don't want to imagine what it would sound like if translated into English.

Pasoori Nu

Some sins are unforgivable, this is one of them.

Character Dheela 2.0

As the tradition goes, most Bollywood remakes are disappointing, so is this. It can’t replicate the vibe of the original Character Dheela song. 

Vande Raka - Khichdi 2

I almost winced when the song came on screen. The song was an unnecessary and distracting addition to the plot. The song, its lyrics, choreography, and even costumes are just bizarre.

Show Me The Thumka

Shraddha Kapoor was offered some really bad dance moves which made this song painful to watch. We love a good banter between a situationship couple during a wedding. However, this song ruined the vibe.

Meri Zindagi se Jaane Ka Kya Loge Tum?

Ironic that for a song that says, “Kuch toh bol, muh toh khol,” the singer would not stop screaming! Moreover, Akshay Kumar's overacting didn't help. 

Le Ke Prabhu ka Naam

This song was so focused on mimicking 'Jhoome Jo Pathaan' that it forgot to be itself.

Tum Kya Mile

This song sounds like 'Gerua' and not in a pleasing way. Rocky and Rani have their own strengths, but it’s high time we accept that not everyone can pull off what Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol did.

Sher Khul Gaye

This isn’t the worst song of 2023, but it is rather disappointing. A song starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone can’t be this dull. Moreover, it can’t be a blatant copy of the classic ‘Stayin’ Alive’. Simply said, the song is not giving.
