Netflix's Ray Trailer is colorful, exhilarating, and a dark reality check

Netflix's Ray directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Srijit Mukherji, and Vasan Bala centers on themes like ego, revenge, envy, and betrayal.

Netflix's Ray trailer dropped on Tuesday and as the trailer states, 'it's a modern retelling of the four classics'. The anthology will have four gripping stories inspired by the works of legendary filmmaker, Satyajit Ray. Helmed by Abhishek Chaubey, Srijit Mukherji, and Vasan Bala, it will feature Manoj Bajpayee, Ali Fazal, Harshvarrdhan Kapoor, and Kay Kay Menon side by side. This story is based on ‘ego, revenge, envy, and betrayal’. The film is set to stream on Netflix from June 25.

The trailer begins with a voice-over and all four men walking forward in their stories. The voice-over states that mankind is no less than God since it too gives birth and creates life. And then, we're introduced to Ipsit Nair (Ali Fazal), a man who is said to have the memory of a computer. Next up is Harshvardhan, Bollywood superstar who encounters a God woman and is amazed at her popularity. Manoj Bajpayee plays Musafir Ali, a ghazal singer, who is on a journey to seek his lost fame. And finally, we get a glimpse of Kay Kay Menon’s character, who, despite a stable job, wants to create art as a makeup artist. Towards the end, the voice-over warns that we are neither the first nor the last humans but whenever a man starts to think of himself as God, he has a major downfall.
