Regina King's directorial debut film 'One Night in Miami ' has received appreciation from critics and the audience for its great direction and commendable performances.
2020 gave us some best movies and series to watch on streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The new year has begun and we already have some great gems in focus. One Night in Miami released on Amazon Prime Video on 15th January 2021 and marks the directorial debut of actor Regina King who has given us some brilliant performances on screen in the past. The film streaming on Amazon Prime video has been predicted to get nominated at the prestigious Academy awards next year. Regina King has been predicted to get nominated for the direction category and Leslie Odom Jr for the best-supporting actor category. Many critics have also predicted the film to get nominated for the Best Picture category.
The film is about a fictionalized meeting of Malcom X, Muhammad Ali, Jim Brown, and Sam Cooke in a room at the Hampton House in February 1964 celebrating Ali's surprise title win over Sonny Liston. The plot is about conversations that take place in the room when all the four characters come together.
The film stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodge, and Leslie Odom Jr. in the lead roles and from the trailer, one can see the relationship dynamics and the issues the film is speaking about. The story follows the night of Feb. 25, 1964, in Miami, when Cassius Clay joins Jim Brown, Sam Cooke, and Malcom X, and they discuss the responsibility of being successful black men during the civil rights movement.
