Here's a collated news list that covers much-awaited teaser trailers, first looks and other exciting announcements made in the entertainment industry this week! 

This week, the global entertainment industry left the audience thrilled as the teaser trailers and first looks of anticipated films were released. Nag Ashwin's large-scale sci-fi project finally released its first look, introducing Amitabh Bachchan's character Ashwatthama in Kalki 2898 AD. We also got to see the epic Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's collab in Marvel's Deadpool and Wolverine with its first teaser trailer. Apart from this, the trailer of actor Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut Blink Twice was also released. It was a proud moment for India as two Indian documentaries, While We Watched and All That Breathes got nominated for the Peabody Awards and FTII's student film will be competing at Cannes Film Festival 2024.

Amitabh Bachchan's first look as Ashwatthama in Kalki 2898 AD

The makers of Kalki 2898 AD and director Nag Ashwin released a teaser of their time-travel action drama featuring the entry of Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama. In the teaser, we can see his character look, with his body thoroughly bandaged and almost entirely shrouded. The much-anticipated film also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, and Kamal Haasan.

Marvel's Deadpool and Wolverine teaser trailer released 

The much-anticipated film by Marvel Studios, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has released its trailer. After putting his claws away a while ago, Hugh Jackman reprises his role as Wolverine sporting the iconic yellow X-Men suit. Ryan Reynolds also returns as everyone's favorite Deadpool. In the video, while riffing off each other, Wade Wilson and Logan team up to save the world. 

Two Indian documentary films nominated for Peabody

Two Indian documentaries, Vinay Shukla’s While We Watched and Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes, have been nominated for the prestigious Peabody Awards. Jurors selected these two among the 41 nominees in the Documentary, News, Public Service, and Radio/Podcast categories. Shukla’s film is based on former NDTV anchor and journalist Ravish Kumar, and Sen’s Oscar-nominated film (available on JioCinemas) is about two Muslim brothers who have devoted their lives to looking after black kites.

Elliot Page to produce a gay YA romance set in outer space 

Elliot Page, the actor, will be producing the on-screen adaptation of the acclaimed queer young adult sci-fi novel “The Darkness Outside Us" authored by Eliot Schrefer. The book follows two boys from enemy countries forced to team up on a space rescue mission. As the two navigate their spaceship’s secrets, love might be the only way to survive.

FTII announced a student film to compete at the Cannes Film Festival 2024 

FTII’s one-year TV-wing student film "Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know" is selected to compete at ‘La Cinef’ section of the 77th Cannes Film Festival in France. It is the only Indian film among 18 shorts selected from 2,263 films submitted by film schools worldwide. The story follows an elderly woman who steals a rooster which leads the village into so much disarray that a prophecy is invoked to return the rooster and cast out the old lady's family into exile.

Zoë Kravitz directorial debut Blink Twice released 

Blink Twice will be the actor Zoë Kravitz’s (Batman) first film as a director. It includes a star-studded cast - Naomi Ackie, Channing Tatum, Simon Rex, Alia Shawkat, Kyle MacLachlan, Adria Arjona, Christian Slater, Geena Davis and Haley Joel Osment

Priyanka Chopra's produced documentary WOMB trailer released 

Prime Video released the trailer for its upcoming documentary, 'Women of My Billion,' produced by Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The documentary follows the incredible journey of Srishti Bakshi, a UN SDG changemaker who walked for 240 days, 3,800 kilometers from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, embarking on a life-changing pilgrimage on foot to meet and share the stories of everyday women across the country. The film gives glimpses of women's struggles, dreams, and their unwavering spirit as they fight for equality and overcome adversity.

Heartstopper season 3 new cast members announced 



Heartstopper Season 3 welcomes some new faces amidst the old! The infamous Bridgerton's Jonathan Bailey will appear as Jack Maddox, an Instagram-famous classicist and Charlie's celebrity crush.⁠ Hayley Atwell will play Nick’s aunt, Diane, who takes him on a summer holiday and Eddie Marsan will play Geoff, Charlie’s wise and straight-talking therapist.  

Amazon Mini TV's Amber Girls School is a coming-of-age drama that explores the complexities of teenage life

The trailer, with a hard-hitting narrative, compelling characters, and an authentic portrayal of teenage struggles, offers a glimpse into the world of Amber Girls School (AGS), an all-girls institution that focuses on grooming ‘sanskari’ young women, where tradition clashes with the desire for freedom. The series is produced by Reliance Entertainment Studios, directed by Rajlaxmi Ratan Seth, and written by the Oscar-winning documentary ‘Elephant Whisperers’ writer Garima Pura Patiyaalvi. It features Celesti Bairagey, Kajol Chugh, Adrija Sinha, Ishika Gagneja, Harsh Khurana, and Shruti Panwar in pivotal roles.
