New Update
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol

The Filmfare Awards 2025 weren’t just about who took home the black lady, they were about who took over the stage. And this year, no one did it quite like Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

It’s no secret that the excitement around award shows has dipped over the years. The glitz remains, sure, but the question of who’s winning what doesn’t quite make the nation pause anymore. Yet, when it comes to Shah Rukh Khan, the charm doesn’t fade away, it just finds a new spotlight. And this time, Kajol was right there beside him, making it feel like the 90s all over again. While the night was all about handing out trophies, it also became a night of pure nostalgia, with the duo recreating magic that spanned from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

SRK returned to hosting duties after years, alongside Karan Johar, bringing back the effortless banter and playful chaos that once defined the golden Filmfare nights, more than the awards themselves. But the real highlight came when Kajol stepped onto the stage to present an award, only to be surprised by SRK himself. Cue the violins, the background dancers, and that unmistakable tune “Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jana Sanam.” In true Bollywood fashion, SRK danced his way to her, and what followed was a time capsule of iconic moments. From the playful K3G banter (“I don’t like jokes, I don’t like you!”) swaying to “Ladki Badi Anjani Hai”from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the two recreated memories that have lived rent-free in all of our hearts for decades. And yes, they even danced to “Suraj Hua Maddham”, complete with those gestures and glances that defined an era.

Sure, there’s been plenty of discourse over these films, from DDLJ, K3G to KKHH and what they got wrong, from its stereotypical take especially when it came to Anjali’s transformation from a tracksuit-wearing tomboy to a sari-clad beauty in KKHH. But despite the cultural critiques and evolving sensibilities, one thing hasn’t changed - SRK-Kajol's chemistry that still feels refreshing and romantic all over. The audience going wild as they relived those moments on stage was proof that some magic never dates.

To top it all off, the trio of SRK, Kajol, and Karan Johar received a special Filmfare honour for being the “Most Entertaining Trio of the ’90s.” With DDLJ completing 30 years this October, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. The moment became even more special when veteran actor Anupam Kher walked on stage to present them the award, a full-circle moment for everyone who grew up on those films.

So while the trophies came and went, it was nostalgia that ruled the night. Because when Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol share a stage, no matter the decade, the magic writes itself!
