Delhi Temple

Sunday night quickly turned from calm to violent after two groups of men got into a physical brawl that started with a bike parking issue but soon turned communal. The incident took place in Delhi’s Hauz Qazi area in Chawri Bazaar, Chandni Chowk. The group vandalized a very old Durga temple and many were injured.

According to an article in India TV, around 200 people of a different community forcefully entered this Delhi Temple and vandalized it. Before that, they entered a house and beat up a man. The incident took place around 10 pm on Sunday night. There are a few videos that surfaced online that showed the incident.

The police was informed and they reached there while the situation was very tense. The security in the area is tight and the police is looking into the matter. Here is what the Delhi police said:

Another crime committed because of communities/religion is acting as a matter of deep concern among people. If incidents like these keep happening, no community will be able to co-exist peacefully. Citizens took to Twitter with #TempleTerrorAttack as they express their disturbance with the crime and how the media is reporting it.

The authorities really need to step up and take stringent actions to avoid further crimes in the name of religion or otherwise. We need to keep raising our voices too and make them hear us.
