Here’s what's up with the artistic Bridgerton sibling aka Benedict Bridgerton so far!

Benedict Bridgerton’s journey has been all about curiosity, self-discovery and creativity and hence there’s a lot to keep in mind before we see him as a lead in season 4!

Benedict Bridgerton is the second son of one of the ton’s most respected families but also quite free spirited than the rest of his siblings. He is charming, handsome, creative and observant of everything around him while his siblings attend soirees and try to choose the best one amongst their suitors. He is a trusted confidante for his siblings and often gives a different perspective or humour during tense moments in their life. Because he is the second son of the family, he has it a lot easier than Anthony who had to grow up way too fast. Because Anthony takes most of the load on his shoulders, Benedict isn’t bound by huge expectations and hence he uses that freedom to live his life the way he wants as compared to what the societal norms want out of a bachelor who comes from a noble family.

Here’s an overview of his journey so far!

Season 1

The first season of Bridgerton focused majorly on Daphne and Simon’s enemies to lovers arc. But in the middle of all of that, we see Benedict having an entirely different plot of his own. Whilst attending one of the many balls that Lady Danbury loves throwing, he meets Henry Granville, an artist who catches his eye. After receiving an invitation to his studio, Benedict sees multiple topless women posing for his paintings. It almost feels like he has opened doors to a whole different world. When he attends one of Henry’s parties, he finds him having sex with another man. While he’s astonished to see a married man be open to things he never had imagined, he himself spends the night with Genevieve Dealcroix and another woman and sees his wildest fantasies come true. But the next day, when he meets Henry, he finds out that the other woman he slept with was his wife aka Lucy Granville. 

Henry explains how he and Lucy are in an open marriage pact and he married her even though he was interested in men just so that both of them could live a free life whilst putting on an act in front of the ton. This plays a pivotal role in Benedict’s journey as it makes him curious and pushes his curiosity towards exploring his own sexuality and also pursue art for real! After a heart to heart with Eloise where she pushes him to take his passion for art a lot more seriously than he does, he thinks of giving it an actual shot. But after learning his sister had interrogated Genevieve thinking she is Lady Whistledown, he asks her to never do that again. When Eloise asks him to warn Genevieve from stepping out of her house, he finds out that she has already shut shop and left for France!

Season 2

The second chapter focuses on the eldest sibling aka Anthony Bridgerton's angsty love story with Miss Sharma. But for Benedict, his biggest highlight of season 2 was getting a spot at the Royal Academy of Art. As he dug deep into his artistic skills, he formed a connection with Tessa, a model who poses for his paintings. He also became friends with Rupert Norton and attended Mondrich’s new gentlemen’s club. Towards the end of season 2, in a heated conversation with Eloise, he learns that he got his spot at the Royal Academy of Art through a huge donation made by his elder brother and not because of true merit. He also learns that Genevieve Dealcroix is back in town when he spots her leaving one of the parties by the ton. 

Season 3

After a brief meeting inside a hot air balloon, Benedict acquainted himself with Lady Tilley Arnold, a widow with whom he had a major fling all of season 3. But it was no regular fling between them, Tilley also encouraged Benedict to explore his sexuality by sleeping with men. While he was hesitant at first, after meeting Tilley’s friend, Paul and creating a good camaraderie with him, he thought of giving it a try. As he spent the night with both of them, he felt like he got to know himself a lot better.

When Tilley realizes that she has serious feelings for Benedict and in fact does not want to share him with someone else, she asks him if he’d want to be in a more committed relationship with her. He declined as he had just started exploring himself and did not want to give up what he enjoyed just yet. Season 3 ends with Benedict bidding farewell to Eloise who is set to leave for Scotland for a year. He accompanies his mom at a masquerade ball at the end of the season, hiding behind a mask so he can escape all the ladies trying to court him. Little does he know that going to that masquerade party will play such a pivotal part in him meeting the love of his life!

As we gear up to see him romancing Sophie Baek played by Yerin Ha, we’re rather excited to see how their romance blooms Bridgerton style and possibly have our jaws on the floor with yet another season of steamy scenes that we can’t handle!

Bridgerton season 4 part 1 will be streaming on Netflix on January 29, 2026.
