Sometimes it’s not the people or things around you that you derive happiness from, it’s characters who radiate it on-screen! Here’s who’d make it to the fictional ‘happy club’ if it existed!
Amidst the plethora of mind bending thrillers and action figures, there are some characters who simply just inspire us to be happy. It’s not like they go above and beyond to look happy, they simply just exist and spread their infectious positivity to the world on and off screen. Honestly, if all of us can take a little leaf out of their happy lives, this world would be a much better place to live in!
These characters have often provided us with much needed solace during our lowest days, they made us laugh even on days we didn’t know it was possible to smile. And all of them represent different kinds of happiness. For instance, Rocky Randhawa represents the more extroverted kind of happiness, Geet represents being happy with your own self, Phoebe represents being happy with your life no matter how little you have and Chelsea represents a more gentle kind of happiness!

So here’s what it means to be happy in various different ways!
Rocky Randhawa - Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani
It’s pretty self explanatory why he makes it to the list, right? He has the ability to turn anyone’s frown into a smile. He owns the party and he doesn’t take life too seriously. Even during intense situations in the film, he is open to learning and he embraces that to become ever happier, if that was even possible!
Chelsea - The White Lotus season 3
Contrary to her partner, Chelsea is quite optimistic. From stress management sessions, shopping, making new friends, looking at a new place like a kid in a candy store, she certainly lives life while thinking about the brighter side. Looking at her feels like she’d go out of her way to make anybody feel good about themselves and feel like life isn’t so serious after all!
Geet - Jab We Met
Only a happy person like Geet can come up with a dialogue like ‘Main apni favourite hoon’. She defined what a bubbly, happy-go-lucky girl can look like to an entire generation, and how this can happen only if you live life to the fullest and on your own terms.
Prem - Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon
We bet you can hear this picture and that’s more than enough to explain why he makes it to this list. He wasn’t just a happy person, he had happiness on steroids!
Phoebe - Friends
Phoebe finds happiness in the smallest things in life, be it a new cycle that Ross got her or the fact that she saved the old Christmas trees, or how much she loved making her own songs out of nothing and everything. It often feels like this is her first life and she is experiencing it all with utmost joy.
Barbie - Barbie
There’s no sadness in Barbieland! As we saw in the film, for most of her life, Barbie never thought about the heavier things in life. She woke up, got dressed in her best pink outfit and went for a dance party with the other Barbies. Even when she was introduced to the real world, she tried to bring happiness to the table in her own way and tried to fix things in a more positive manner than letting things turn sour as well.
Jess - New Girl
Jess tries to find something positive even in a horrible situation or person. She was happy to the point where it was annoying and she could do with a little bit of anger in her life sometimes, IMO!
Bibi's amma - Aavesham
Although she comes off as an odd choice, considering how little screen time she had in the movie, there hasn't been a character that radiates happiness and positivity more than Bibi's amma from Aavesham in recent times. Her effort to keep in touch with her son who is away studying, blindly trusting him to do well, and taking care of everyone around him as her own child was the best thing that happened to us in 2024. Not to forget her constant “mon happy ano?” (You’re happy right?) melted the heart of even a gangster like Ranga.
