8 things in Bridgerton season 4 that still feel relevant in today’s world!

One might think that the Bridgerton era and the 21st century are two completely different worlds altogether but look closely and you’ll see they’re a lot more similar than we think!

Bridgerton has always been one to strike a balance between the regency era whilst not making it too out of touch for its audiences either. The soundtrack of the show is popularly known for composing classical renditions of pop music that we listen to today. But that’s not the only link between present time and the past era shown in this series. Some things fortunately or unfortunately remain constant in one way or another; certain terms or the setting might have changed but the core of it all remains the same, showcasing how we’re still ten steps back while pretending to be open minded and progressive.

Forgetting keys, or in Benedict’s case, not carrying one at all!

Forgetting your house keys feels like an honest mistake that most of us might have made at some point in our lives. But you wouldn’t expect a nobleman from the regency era looking for his house keys under the plants! Do princes lose aura points if they carry their house keys with them?

People still find joy in kite flying, especially in India!

Benedict would probably be pleased to know that kite flying is a festival in India and people probably even use it as a way to get closer to your crush IRL, just like he did! We're sure Luke Thompson probably knows this given how he's 1/4th Indian. 

Araminta’s maid wars are as real as it gets for 21st century women as well!

A woman can live without a husband but not without a maid and let Araminta’s arc in Bridgerton be proof of that! At this point, all our households revolve around our house help’s schedule instead of it being the other way around. Because admit it or not, we need them way more than they need us and someone trying to poach them could be what they call a modern day catastrophe!

Francesca and a lot of women around the world are still finding their pinnacle! 

Francesca not knowing what an orgasm is during the 1800s is still something we can wrap our heads around as she was exposed to little to no information about this in her teens. But turns out, it’s not that different in 2026 either! Even after so much being spoken about and multiple social media channels creating informative Reels on how to reach the pinnacle, it’s still sold to women like it’s a hush-hush taboo thing and hence there’s still a lot of shame attached to self pleasure!

Lady Whistledown, who was once an anonymous gossip writer, has now become a full blown publication for the ton to come and fill her ears with what they’d want to read in her next edition. Similar to how publications are constantly reached out for carrying press releases to writing articles about certain current events that are making the rounds.

From wanting all her children to settle down one after the other, to running a household all by herself, Violet Bridgerton is every Asian mother even today! Nobody can escape mamas and their questions about settling down, be it the regency era or the 21st century!

Don’t worry Eloise, the judgy eyes still follow spinsters today as well!

Eloise always feels like she is way ahead of her times and while she might think that things would have changed for women centuries later, we somehow still seem to be stuck in the same loop. An unmarried woman above a certain age does feel the burden of judgy looks and unwelcomed questions at every family function she goes to. From speculating if something is wrong with her to still using the term ‘on the shelf’ in modern day, the ton today is no different from the one in Bridgerton!

The soirée’s never go out of fashion!

Bridgerton has masquerade balls and promenades in the garden. We have singles mixers and match making dates at coffee shops. While terms have changed, the core of putting yourself out there in society still remains the same. 

And then there’s the flip side to it. The parties that one shouldn’t be at! The ones that Benedict goes to for rakish behaviour. The ones that end up on reddit where you read certain celebrities were spotted having secret rendez-vous. Benedict is lucky that reddit did not exist in his era or he’d be done for a while ago!
