With every episode of The White Lotus, the plot just thickens and has us all decoding what each and every scene could possibly turn into later! Here’s some major fan theories floating around that we can’t help but believe!
We’re 3 episodes in with The White Lotus season 3 and there’s still not one single guest who we can narrow down as the shooter. The rich snobs who’ve come to stay at The White Lotus in Thailand are still adjusting to the new setting as well as going a little more cuckoo by the day. The Ratcliff siblings still have a weird energy between them for no good reason. Their parents are either on drugs or scared of the FBI raiding their office back in New York. The three besties are fully bitching about one another every chance they get. Greg, who now goes by Gary, seems depressed yet still has that psychoness in his eyes. Chelsea and Rick are at loggerheads with each other as usual, and Gaitok is head over heels in love with Mook as he was in the first episode. But as we grow closer to the finale, more and more layers start to peel off and the connections between all the characters start to uncover.

Here are some fan theories that have made it to everyone’s list so far!
The monkeys did it
Since episode 1, there’s been an abnormal amount of focus on the monkeys who surround the villas of The White Lotus Thailand. Their significance is explained enough and more in two episodes and almost every guest has had a reaction to them. There’s a lot of speculation around this arc that the shooting that happens at the start of episode 1 was actually done by the monkeys. Viewers believe that they might have just gotten a hold of a gun, probably from Rick and are just aimlessly shooting around, resulting in some casualties.
Speaking of monkeys
The biggest hint that something might be related to the monkeys was given to us in the first scene itself. You see the Ratcliff siblings sitting in Gandhiji’s famous ‘See no bad, say no bad and hear no bad’ manner which most of us didn’t seem to catch at the first glance.
Greg and Chloe are in on the gift shop robbery
Greg could be the robber at the gift shop as he always has been hungry for money and has a darker side to him. Chloe is a hooker he met on a dating app and they sure are people who are wack enough to stage a robbery, especially in Chelsea’s presence, probably to get closer to her and Rick as well.
Portia could have a potential return
This is an unexpected theory that has been going strong since the first episode. At first people thought Portia was Laurie's daughter because of her blonde hair. But in episode 2, we hear Laurie saying her daughter is still in school. So while that aspect is ruled out, people are still hoping she’ll make a comeback to put Greg behind bars for what he did to Tanya.
There’s definitely something incestious going on between the siblings
Since the first episode itself, the energy has been creepy between the three siblings. Saxon thinks his sister is hot and needs to get laid. Lachlan stares at his brother’s naked body for a rather long time. What kind of sibling equation even is this? Some theories also mentioned that Lachlan is an adopted kid out of the three and hence feels the need to fit in and please the other two siblings.
Mook isn’t as innocent as she looks
In the first episode, we see her be more fascinated by the thugs who work for Sritala Hollinger than Gaitok who is in love with her. She says she envies the bodyguards because they get to travel the world. She also seems pretty done with her monotonous job here and has encountered some uncomfortable situations as well. She even turns down Mook’s proposal in a rather off beat way. Maybe she finally bursts out in rage and shoots everyone she doesn’t like at The White Lotus.
Rick is definitely a hit man!
When Chelsea asks Rick why they came to Thailand instead of going to Australia, he replies saying that he cannot go to Australia. Fans think this means that he's most probably committed a crime and isn’t allowed back there, and ever since he has checked into The White Lotus, he has been on the hunt for Sritala’s husband like a maniac. His constant anxiousness just makes it feel like he has been paid heavily and sent there to kill her husband by hook or by crook.
